Allowing Glencore to take over any part of our grain trade was one of the more stupid moves this government of ours has ever done. This whole "behind the scene" manipulation was done with the blessing of the Harper government who continue to "sell-us-out" with every passing day.

gustgd: You ask why??? Putting that much more power in the hands of one World dominant corporation in buying and selling of grain and oilseeds allows for too much manipulation of price and supply...in other words a near monopoly which can do so at the expense of our producers.

Of course you may pooh-pooh this as alarmism...well we'll see in the next few years as to who is right.

gustgd - google Mark Rich founder of Glencore. He was on the FBI 10 most wanted list. Hopefully he no longer has his fingers in the Pie

The following Globe and Mail report pretty clearly states that Glencore lines up its deals to their benefit. One gets the feeling that they will line up farmers in the same manner.

That company has a real history that maybe should be looked at for what it is.

Have any of the agricultural spokespersons and interviewee's contemplated this kind of information......or will this just be a very positive move forward for Western Canadian Agriculture.

oneoff after this glencore deal was announced I told our member of parliament to look into the companies PAST before they Approved takeover. I got the feeling they didn't have a clue about the company. There main theme was "we're open for business"

No mustard. Was called to do an interview and
had the Wheat Grower slant on things. Thought
maybe I'd put it out there to see what others
thought. If I remember right your a NFU type
                      farmer?

Terry Boehm did an interview as well. How did he
form his opinion? Did he ask his membership?
Did he go with core beliefs that corporations are
                      evil?
Thought maybe some might want input.

The question gus is if now that you know a little more about the history of Glencore; that you are a little less comfortable.

I truly suspect that its all a case of once again "missing the point" every damn time.

If it were possible; I would press a "delete" button on nearly every one of my posts to this site. The general level of comprehension is just not high enough for even semi intelligent conversation.

Oneoff sometimes I wish you would too.

I followed Mustards sugestion got a site
saying he made his money going around OPEC
trading, and bought oil from Iran then resold
to US at higher prices. More about not paying
                          taxes.

                          The horror....

Seeing as I do farm full time, chase after a
busy family and my wife is slave driving me
to help clean the house before Christmas...
We're all busy people. Let's here in your
words why I shouldn't be glad to have another
                          buyer for my product?
