      Cotton: Do you think the high carb diet
      is the reason our Native North Americans
      have a diabetes issue within their
      population? I don't think they had access
      to too much starch let alone refined sugar
      before Europeans showed up. Their diets
      would likely have been high protein and
      fat diets. Just a thought.

        High amounts of calcium pulled from your
        body in your urine means its leaving
        your body. That is not a good thing.

        I find it strange that anyone thinks
        this is healthy yet when i raised my
        type I diabetic kid, ketoacidosis (what
        cotton is forcefully doing) is
        considered life threatening and if
        severe requires hospitalization.

        For a diabetic kid, it would be a dream
        come true not to have to give them
        carbohydrates, not to take insulin, not
        worry about needles and testing! No
        peeing on pH strips to determine if they
        are acidodic throwing ketones. But guess
        what? They die!

        3 months max. Your body can sustain the
        damage vs weight loss trade off and get
        a start losing weight. I agree. But it
        is utterly devastating to your body to
        continue going acidodic.

            Everybody is different but yes i think natives are less
            able to process carbs and they are probably
            genetically pre-disposed to insulin resistance.

            Wd-now you really need to understand this stuff if
            you have a child with diabetes.Many doctors are using
            this to treat type 2 diabetes.Type 1,yes is at risk of
            life threatening,ketoacidosis.But this all centres
            around,carbs,insulin,obesity and diabetes.

            Doctors now coin the term "diobesity".

            Obesity and diabetes go hand in hand-you get fat
            from eating to many carbs,spiking your insulin and
            the insulin turns the carbs to fat and then you get
            diabetes.(nut shell)

            Being a fat is what is unhealthy.

                cottonpicken: Not into diets BUT would only suggest that nobody should get into these low-carb diets without consultation with medical doctors...after all if things go wrong they are there to evaluate and intercede if necessary.

                  And incase you have been living on mars,obesity is
                  far and away the biggest health factor effecting
                  society.

                  I just wanted to lose a few pounds before i hit the
                  beach and decided to do a little research on how to
                  do it and i stumbled on this group of doctors
                  screaming at the top of their lungs and one of the few
                  things i'm good at is to listen to people who know
                  what they are talking about.

                    Do these Dr's mention the need for our bodies to be alkaline?
                    Protein is acidic and should be offset with a great amount of alkaline foods. Further gut health is a major factor in immunity, that means probiotics. Our selves, we are following food combining to eliminate acid reflux. It is the solution plus makes for fast easy digestion and regularity.
                    Unfortunately, Wilagro Dr's are NOT up on nutrition.

                      Actually, vanity is the biggest health factor. Beach people believe that other beach people only want to see their bony ass out on the sand.

                      If weight losers had any intelligence they would lose their weight the way they gained their weight. That means over time, and no more than 500 calories/day, or a pound/week. To do it any other way puts you at risk of complications plus being a yoyo with ten more pounds at the next plateau of your former self.

                      Go ahead. Jump over the fat cliff with your own method.

                        sweep, seasoned with mouse droppings.

                            If you were to choose one wholeood you could live on, it is lentils. Raw, or sprouted, cooked (they cook in the same time as rice,) they can be used whole or pureed and added to almost anything lentils will add nutrition, and allow you consume and extra 160 calories a day without weight gain to your diet.

                            Don't just grow them: eat them.

                            And since they are also one of the few commodities that are a whole food you could eat them right from the bin.

                              I have never seen biochemistry so simplified as in this thread. It may even be dangerously misquoted.

                              To think that any person would pretend to know how others must eat to become heathy again; let alone themselves is one tall order.

                              Those who shout loudest will not last any longer than those they are attempting to advise.

                              There's much much more to eating and exercising properly than fads and crash diets.
