Why so you think God wants all of those
      prostitutes in heaven? Hahaha

OK. That's the beers taking now.

Coleville I understand we need to try and keep
things brief but you didn't answer my question(s)
at all. You just reiterated your theory
presupposing its true. The point of my
hypothetical was to show where your theory of
right and wrong will ultimately lead you.
I can't let you off that easy -so can you please
        give me an answer?
Question 1- how does the world decide who's idea
of right or wrong to abide by if it is all just a human
        construct? Hypothetical ( genocide)
Question 2 - when someone from another time
/place commits an offense we now find morally
repugnant, why do you assume the morals have
changed and not that they have simply just
        violated a universal moral standard?

#1 Your surrounding society does. Why?
Because you aren't born with it, you
          learn it as you go.

#2 When I read the foremost authority on
how to live in a moral way 2500 years
ago (old testament), it makes my blood
runs cold, because of some of it's
          condoned brutality. Things have changed.

            Cole,

            Interesting Question!

The religious lawyers asked Jesus the
            same questions...

His answer was he came for folks that
actually wanted an answer about life and
            we're Not hypocrites.

All the law was or is for... Is to show
we can't earn our way to a real true
            fellowship with our neighbour... By
making and remaking rules. Only with
            honest lo.

            Who is our neighbour?

The parable of the man robbed... And
thrown in the ditch for dead...
            And the condemnation of superficial
            religious hearts, that didn't really
            care about others...

God will not have folks in Heaven with
those who actually want to be there, it
is a free will decision... Made by us as
            free agents.

Jesus was angry about how people totally
missed the point of the regulations
given them in the old testament.

The point was that we are supposed to
Love each other , forgive, have mercy.

These are the saving graces that make
            life worth living...

People will make bad choices. Our
mission (should we choose it) is to make
            life better... Not worse!

            Cheers

The auto correct on this blackberry is
              annoying... Lo = Love

People who reject God and don't want to
              be there, have the choice.

See rhoff, as Tom said, Jesus's mission
was to teach people a different
morality. One that included love. Thus
reinforcing my answer to #1 and #2
People learn it as they go. Otherwise
why would he waste his time teaching all
of the parables to those dense
                disciples.

Religion, an ongoing topic to discuss. One thing
I will always remember is a comment made by
my neighbor a few years ago. He said " The
majority of us in our hearts want to believe in
God, but under our own terms. That is why we
                  have so many religions today".

Coleville if my surrounding society was the third
riech I would be "wrong" in your view because I
happened to be in the minority. Why did men like
Bonhoeffer choose to preach against the majority
and face persecution and death? Didn't the
countless people like him who stood up for what
they believed also grow up In that society?
Going back to my first example. If anyone of us
watched a genocide occur not one of us for one
second would think "oh well they killed the
children in cold blood but that's just a norm in their
society so we can't really say its wrong"
The third Reich didn't create a new moral law, they
just violated one that was delivered by a greater
                    moral law giver (God).

Coville another point on your remarks of the old
testament. You say "the condoned brutality makes
your blood run cold".another question would be.
We're did you get a standard by which to judge
the brutality in the old testament? You also seem
to assume that our more evolved world of 2013 no
longer has brutality or slavery. When in fact we
just commit these acts with greater ease due to
our technological advances. It's hard to believe
but there is more human trafficking and slavery
                      today than there ever was.

                        rhoff,

Good points... the use of Drones by the US/Obama
killing innocent men, women and children... in
Pakistan is another injustice that is destabilizing our
civilization. Robots are now responsible for killing
people... another step... towards the edge...

                          Coleville,

Since God created us with free will... forcing folks into
the afterlife (with God) against their will... violates their
freedom of choices. Hence folks being free moral
agents to send their spirits to separation from God It
would be eternal torture for our soul... without this
                          separation.

                          It is too simple... WHY?:

                          The GOLDEN Rule:

"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way
you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the
                          Prophets.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the
way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who
enter by it are many. [Mark 7 12-13]
