Regarding Assiniboia CPP land deal. I think this deal
was done because the time was right. I also believe
that they wanted to cash out and put the money into
their canola streaming company. That looks like the
future in input financing. Guys like Hudye did it for
years in their business as did some farm equipment
        dealers on a smaller scale.
Full disclosure have no positions in either Assiniboine
or Input Capital Corp just sitting here digesting turkey
        and rum and coke!

Cash out sounds great to eligible farmers but to sell to the government, well, something is rotten.

Investors were getting nervous and the wealthy have better connections to the tit.

If it was Potash it would be under review but farmland not a chance.

          Closer to communism everyday.

            Ok

            Let's tie this together.

If the people at Assinibioa realized that agristability is not going to pay out for their renters, there is a pretty good chance they better dump the land they control.

They knew they couldn't go to their renters to buy because it would have quickly driven the price down leaving their investors with nothing but a capital loss. Their renters wouldn't pay the previous price that Assinibioa was aquiring the land at, a few years back, so they knew renters were not going to pay CPP prices. Especially considering current crop prices and no agristability payouts.

Their investors were getting nervous and started talking to their conservative friends. They quickly put a scheme together through the CPP. Much like they did with the duffy scandal.

And there you have it, all tied up in a neat little package.

A free conspiracy theory for today.

            Just follow the people involved.

Bucket. I will reiterate. CPP is coming to the party
late. Corruption or incompetence? Not their
money so who cares (better be the tax payer)!!!!
Dots, probably can and will be connected if it is a
croney bail-out. Your examples of why the
investors are running with their tails between their
              legs is legitimate.

HOw is this land purchase any different then CPP buying shares in a public company? Once again we are talking right wing and free enterprise and then acting left wing and protectionist when faced with competition from free markets in our own businesses!

Its not "competition from free markets in our own businesses! "

When they are using your money Dave, you are competing to bid yourself up.

The CPP is the publics money and buying land at a high is great, but when you factor in crop prices and the fact land prices are more than likely going down in unison with crop prices it ends up being a bad investment.

And to be clear, this was a bail out to investors and a backroom deal.

Had it gone through a real estate listing or auction, no problem.

                    But look at reality.

Disclosure: I have no interest in any of the land involved, nor do I. BUT I had a stake in the CPP and it concerns me.
