Its not "competition from free markets in our own businesses! "

When they are using your money Dave, you are competing to bid yourself up.

The CPP is the publics money and buying land at a high is great, but when you factor in crop prices and the fact land prices are more than likely going down in unison with crop prices it ends up being a bad investment.

And to be clear, this was a bail out to investors and a backroom deal.

Had it gone through a real estate listing or auction, no problem.

    But look at reality.

Disclosure: I have no interest in any of the land involved, nor do I. BUT I had a stake in the CPP and it concerns me.

AND if it is such a great deal, why doesn't the CPP buy out all the farms listed or all the retiring farmers at a massive premium and get the returns to CPP.

The experiment has been tried - it doesn't work.

So the CPP should buy more land, that is what you are advocating?

Bucket - If you read the CPP website you will notice
they own farmland in 5 countries now. It appears
they must think buying Assiniboia was a good
            investment.
