Just thinking of new crop issues if our grain does not get moved and price sucks from now to harvest. This may be the year to pay for the bins in short order which may be the best option for me since I don't have a bagger system at the moment. What are others doing? Purchase bins?

BUY BINS!!!!!!!!!! You don't realize the extra help you require to use bags' I found out the hard way, it is not as simple as it appears(especiallly if you only operate with a two man crew like we did)

Lots of BTOs around here use baggers
because their landlords don't have bins
for them to use or rent. Then they
gotta get it out asap before the deer
and ravens and such start in on it. Or
it rots. Gotta get er out!!
They have their place but if storing the
production on your owned land is a
problem every year, its a short term
solution to a long term problem. Unless
you have short term plans......

Was on a combine crew for a neighbor a
few years back. We were in fields of
heavy oats doing well over 100 bu/ac. 4
big JD combines, 2 maxed out chaser bins
with a grain bagger in the same field
that barely shut off.
The 4 combines never stopped. Trucking
that much product away not even remotely
possible.

The BTO' s around here have their employees
cleanup the bags in the winter and haul it into
their elevators. This way the bags are cleaned up
quicker. The nice thing is it's done on frozen
roads. Way less damage to the roads at harvest
and in spring.
