Small world indeed. My son is a Paramedic and is manager of the Elk Point ambulance service.

Back to point of discussion, as recently as two
years ago railroads were telling farmers and
shippers that incentive was required to get them
to invest in capacity to handle grain.
Shippers and farmers could not agree on changes
to the revenue cap so nothing was done and here
          we are today.
Expect we still have to endure more pain and
expense, just listen to howls of protest every time
          ending revenue cap is mentioned.

Sad thing is what is the answer, $7 wheat at the coast ending up $3 in the pit??? Everyone down the 'line' making all the profit - we are screwed....

Furrow, thats what we need to figure out, feel like I've
              been talking to myself.

What are the costs to ship other things?

I can't hardly find the info for some reason.

10-15 per barrel oil on a 600-750barrel car and an
old finical report from 2010 at the milestone potash
mine 40$ a tonne, god knows how acurate these
              numbers are.

check out www.heavytrafficahead.org It's based out of the US but if what they predict with moving coal by rail happens, it could further bottleneck our system too
