We'll just got our flooded check! Groceries!

So again to all who think farmers are getting rich on flooded acreage through crop insurance think again!
9000 acres this year 600 gone seeding intensity is 100%!
Deduct 5% off total 450 out of payment off the bat! Deductable!
Payment on 600-450=150 eligible to receive payment x 70 since in sask we have to decide back in march if we want out of top up!
Total payment 10500.00 wow that's some farm saving money hey boys!
Ritz your programs are good for shit!
Now add 20% gone by flood and hail 5 % it's going to be one f$&k of a great year!
Now if it was 70 on whole 600 and 42000 then no complaint here that's a program! The BS deductable is ridiculous!

Well said Sask exactly my sentiments. They are all good at collecting premiums but paying losses is another story.

Too wet to seed acres not flooded acres. I guess you're lucky you didn't seed those acres as they would of flooded out anyways. You got 10k instead of losing 120k on those acres.

And I don't quite understand your math. 5% of 600 acres is 450 acres? Can't quite figure it out

Just curious. Have you or will you withdraw any Agri Invest funds?

Good thing it's there for everyone affected.

Re crop insurance and deductibles, etc. while levels of coverage and deductibles don't match up with farmer expectations, usually the specifics of these programs are dictated by trade constraints as much as available financing by Treasury.

We all feel for the affected area. It's so large. Hopefully everyone will have enough Agri Invest saved or left to help until some (diminished) Ag Stabilty advance arrives.

Sorry saskfarmer but deducting 5% seems very reasonable to me. Government isn't there to guarantee you revenue on absolutely every acre. any insurance has deductibles like this. As for hail I can't and won't feel sorry for anyone when you can make a quick phone call and mitigate that risk. I have had hail on over 7000 acres so far this year and I havnt said a word on here. Hail is one risk any farm can easily insure for. On top of the hail after seeding we had approx 10% of our land flood out as well. Now to be fair the other 70% is looking great and isn't struggling from being too wet at least before the hail.

That's not every acre it's 5 % off what I normally seed. So I lose 450 acres right off the gun. It's a bs program.

And on hail we take hail insurance out every year this year we got hit first time in three years. But this defer till harvest bullshit is pissing me off.

I will ask again. Is anyone making money on crop insurance, average over enough years? If the premium is subsidized as much as advertised, and the administrators don't take the lions share, then everyone should be making money on crop insurance. So who is?
