Mathematically it's time for plan B!

As we continue to get no decent weather and the long term is not great on our farm plan b starts today!
Ours is simple when standing wheat gets to under 20 we do 240 acres and dryer runs continuous all day and night! It's into bins into dryer into cooling bins bagged in Morning! Max bus is 12000 a day! Below 16 bagged dry later! Yesterday 20.8 today morning mist but wind! Standing canola 14 yesterday! Airation bins to stabalize grain if it gets really late!
The weather patern changed after the heat event!
So here is the question of the day, what are others doing, all ideas need to be looked at! We have been sitting for 7 days time is running out fast!

Local crushers dont want tough! Anything over 10 moisture 20 dollar a ton penalty! Then 40!
Guy beside nailed the 20 for his 10.1 moisture! Ah farming! 2/10ths fm last night!

Continues to shower every second day here as well. Most are done locally or close, with just a field here and there.
West and south west - lots out yet. Very little has been done in the past 7 days.

Dryer ran when needed but sparingly in September! August the peas didn't need a dryer they needed a cultivator and a match!

I live in east central myself
And it's been frustrating.
Late cold start this spring so couldn't start harvest early.
We finally got our power upgraded to 600amp from 200 after 4 years so we were able to move our dryer to the home yard this year and we did about 10% of the durum early but that's it. Every cereal we were on it's ass all harvest. Cereals are done but a 1/3 of the canola and all the flax is still out there.
Waiting a few more days more and if no better we'll start drying canola.

SF3, will your wheat be in the top grade or have very high protein? If not, how does drying pencil out? Just wondering about the math in going after something that is low quality, just to get it off the field? In passing you did mention another harvesting technique, the match.

in scotland we combine wheat up to 30% moisture then roast it in the drier.
We leave it in a pile for 2 or 3 days and once it starts to heat it dries a lot easier. But if the drier breaks down........

13.9 to 14.9 and a shitty two so basically a one at the coast! Later is a three with high protein! It's on pig shit ground! So should be similar! Other was a two when we left have enough to mix! If it was a match it would be gone already! Xanola is for end since have half off! Oats should be ready shortly! Heavy clouds now thanks free wheat for the snow showers! Ha ha! Ah farming!

Haven't combined in 9 days, light shower this morning, so good chance today will make 10. Best Thanksgiving dinner this year would be a turkey sandwich on the combine.

Yes the best thanks giving dinner is the American in November! Always celebrate that one Canada's is to early! A sandwich on Monday or supper in the field works for me!

Took a lot of wheat off tough so far.

If canola is 12% or better tomorrow will take some off and put in aeration, than dry.

If you come from northern Saskatchewan you know we have combined dry grain end of October, beginning of November. However the word is if the straw goes through the combine runs.

Hopefully guys here get er done, and get some fall work accomplished .
Tough to break that cycle of late seeding - late harvest - followed by no or min fall work - which leads to a late seeding start again the next year.
Of course that has been enhanced by 2 wet springs and the first wetter fall in 8 years.
Although we have been not near as wet as Eastern Sask, it still has been troublesome for a lot guys caught in that cycle.
That being said, there is more fall work being done now than any other fall I can remember. A lot of tillage machines, discs and harrows goin everywhere.

Tempted to hold off until dry since weather forecast looks great for weekend. I know, its risky, but the quality doesn't merit any sacrifice.
