Got this emailed to me last night. Lets hope not.
To: Southeast Region Water Management Contacts: RMs, CAAs, and Watershed Associations
I am writing to advise that the various climate models we watch are now becoming more aligned in identifying the potential for severe weather over the weekend in the southeast corner of the province and 25-50 mm of rainfall over a larger area of Southeast Saskatchewan early next week. At this time we do not have major concerns, but localized flooding is possible where local accumulations are higher. This risk is highest in areas where recent conditions have been wet and severe weather over the weekend has the potential of wetting the landscape further. Other severe weather may be associated with this event.
Saskatchewan Synopsis
Area(s): Central and southeastern
Timing: Late afternoon into the evening
Threats: 2-3 cm hail and local 50 to 75 mm rain in central areas. In southeast, 3 to 4+ cm hail, 50 to 100 mm local rainfall and wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h with a high probability of severe thunderstorms in the southeast corner.
A slow-moving low pressure system will draw hot and humid air into southern and central SK from the Dakotas. This will provide favourable conditions for scattered severe thunderstorms to develop Saturday afternoon or evening. As well, higher dew points and higher afternoon temperatures will provide the necessary ingredients for isolated supercell thunderstorms to develop late Saturday afternoon or evening and track eastward toward the MB border.
Here's hoping for a quiet weekend.
