When you have to say "that's not a racist statement", it usually is.
Pretty sure south Africa has had incompetent governments all throughout their history, whether it be apartheid, to the incompetence in power at the moment. Evil government knows no colour, especially in South Africa.

But that all being said, I think any person that is under severe persecution such as these South African farmers, should be given the fast track to immigrating to Canada, especially if they can work.

Big steps backwards in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

I have met one extended family who has made the move to Saskatchewan from South Africa. They are greatful to be alive and have bought a farm in Canada but are very worried above remaining family members in SA who are still farming.

The Boers farmers and other farmers in SA or Zimbabwe who are facing a possible genocide should be preferred refugees.

I really don't know the history to make a comment.

My forefathers came to this country about 130 years ago for opportunity and own to farmland. There really is no more untamed wilderness to settle, no new continents---so people look to emigrate to stable places, Canada.

There are some South Africans who bought farmland in Western Canada already. Is it possible to leave South Africa with your capital. Is the land actually saleable or has it become worthless.

I can't imagine.....I take so much for granted. I've had a very stable, peaceful existence so far!

Good idea to bring actual farmers into canada because Brads oil workers haven't finished selling their toys and can't work for less money.

From what I understand the Government there can come to your farm with a compulsory purchase order at a value of their choosing and you have to sell. If it's half what it's worth you are just out of luck. One thing Canada (federal and provincial governments) could do would be to waive or reduce the requirements to prove you have so many hundred thousand dollars to invest in farmland through the business immigration programs in the circumstance where you had been force to flee SA with little or no equity.

Then again should the same offer not be made to a Syrian farmer or farmers elsewhere dispossessed of their land through war or genocide?

There are certainly cases historically where governments have brought in persecuted groups and it has proven a great boon for the adopting country. Perhaps none more so than the east Indians expelled from Uganda under Idi Amin's regime in 1972. Britain took 30,000 or so (and Canada 6000 I read) and they have risen to the top of every part of British life. There are many Patels on the richest people list as well as these Ugandans being in politics, top doctors etc.

If you guys don't think we're well on our way here to giving the land back to the natives, or at least control of it, you're not paying attention. All these yuppies and dumb ass hipsters with their white remorse feel the need to repent for the sins committed 5-10 generations ago.

Go through these entries and weep, because this is what life is like for SA farmers in 2016:

So do I. So I found it difficult to believe what is happening to farmers in SA. Pars.

So your reason for bringing SA farmers in, is cheap labour?
