I just hate when you have the report just finished and go to preview and the internet crashes. Start over again. Maybe that's 2016 in a nut shell. Here we come 2017. Plans to drop Durum and Peas and Lentils and Flax and seed Two crops Half Canola and Half HRS and call it a plan.

What a not so fun week for weather starting with last Fridays out of the blue down pour of almost a inch followed by Sundays start of the storm that hit Yorkton. To last night really can it not stop raining or hail events. Out this morning to crop check again the first storm hasn't been adjusted yet.

So here we go hope it finally dry's out this coming week. Ha Ha yea lotto max you have a better chance at than rain quitting this year .

Peas all desiccated or will be in area real soon. Yield has changed since last report with real nice peas twisting and going flat or just not as nice as previous weeks. Some still good to great but some WTF. Mud in crop and water in crop will make harvesting a flat crop a challenge. Earth tag etc.

Hrs is a crop that also has a few issues starting to show up. Yes its still nice but the Fuz monster is appearing and lodging is a issue. Some varieties are better standing and yes Yield is still possible but if the weather keeps up we will have harvest issues. Rain in excess doesn't make more grain. Elevators will grade so fricking hard at harvest time it will be sick.

Durum the great experiment to go back to a crop I loved to grow and in such a awesome nice dry spring actually thought I would work. Sprayed at Flag and again at head and Again the Fuz monster has attacked. Maybe a new strain or Just a Band-Aid that we pay a huge cost for that doesn't do much more than let you sleep better till after harvest.

Canola, Oh the retarded sister. Yes some awesome crops a true 10 but really it comes down to individual storms and seeding dates and hail. Now it seems the last few storms have twisted and turned and lodged heavy crops. Oh how disease can start and effect the crop. Oh how fields can start to reflower and oh how some areas stink with dead plants. Yes some will have a bin buster. Plants 6 ft tall with arms length or less pods. Hm Tall tall Canola but only top podded. Later looked not bad but can spot the flower blast and almost tell the days it rained heavy. Time will tell but harvest could be one heck of a challenge with areas not harvested because to wet or swaths sitting in water. Or Strait cut fields that never seem to dry up.

Lentils drop the mic and walk off stage. Done dinner dead. enough said.

Barley oh how I wished you would be the one crop that we did every thing right and hit the Malt jackpot like we use to. Not probably going to happen any more fields lodged and twisted and enough said. Grain companies will love this year Yes No Yes NO NO just like the soup NAZI on TV.

Flax fields didn't escape either. Twisted lodged flat crop. is it 2010 all over again.

Soy does better in Wet rain and mud than peas but this year the crop doesn't have that awesome look. Time will tell but Excess water takes a Crop maybe again.

Hay pasture and new seeded fields. Cows are in heaven and pastures are best fields ever. New seeded fields actually have plants under the weeds and might make it. Lots of plants.

Corn looks good so far time will tell.

So another week is done and were all getting closer to harvest 2010 oh sorry 2016. Those with dryers get them cleaned up fixed up and ready to go because if Drews forecast for Aug and part of Sept is right what you see is what your going to get. Wet Wet Wet sunny then day no wind then sunny Harvest harvest repeat. Two days per week to get it off.

Be safe and have a great week, share your areas results and yes lets hear about the bin busters out in the field Were blessed with excess water but some guys have hit the jackpot with just in time rains so share a true farmer needs likes to hear about good fortune.

Remember the ones at home are way more important than any crop in the field that the grain companies are salivating to take for pennies this year.

    Happy Harvest.

Noticed Sclarotina is sure showing its ugly head in allot of canola fields on my trip to Stoon yesterday. Mother nature isnt done taking her share back yet!

6/10 rain in Regina last night. Freshens things up. Radio reports Kindersley-Rosetown 85 ml. or 3 1/2 inches. Wheat and Durum should finish off now. Crop tour time.

Yes starting to see sclerotina in the canola, not a huge amount but the odd one as you look in from the field edge. Never sprayed it so have to expect some as even guys that sprayed are seeing some. If thats as bad as it gets I can live with it. Barley is getting close and the forecasts look crappy. Wheat has some fuzz but is standing great. Peas are close to being sprayed, seem to be hanging on a little but should be done within the week.

All I can say is wow are grain prices terrible. And nobody wants to give out a price till they know what is out there. Very frustrating as bin space may be at a premium here. If the weather does not smarten up, I might be buying a bunch of cattle to feed all this feed grain too.

One note if you harvest Barley get a sample in for malt real fast at all you deal with then if its put to feed look for a buyer as feed and even some Durum putting in bush might be a option this year.

After missing three weeks of rain , might as well stay away now . Peas getting close to spray so , need quality over the last few bus in canola

We got 2 inches of rain last night..With every rain event the crops are getting closer to the ground..Lodged, flat.. Crops that were lodged before are starting to re grow..Looks like harvest will be a slow process...

Good hay is going to be a prime commodity along with good peas and lentils -maybe other commodities too.

Thunderstorms are developing over portions of west central Saskatchewan this afternoon. As these thunderstorms develop, conditions will be favourable for the development of funnel clouds and possibly brief, weak tornadoes. Locally heavy downpours, strong winds and hail are also possible.

Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.

Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes.

Klaus, where's the Alfalfa in that sample? Are you thinking that's premium hay?

The bales are 90% alfalfa. The sample in my hand is 100% pure Timothy grown to spec for 2 horse boaeding stables. Yes it is.
