Friday crop report on a Thursday!

Ok let's just say for the last week we get our daily rain. Each day a shower pops up and if your unlucky you get wet. Geese and ducks have arrived and are loving the peas. Ducks unlimited should say two seasons spring and fall it's getting out of hand. Bill crop insurance.

Ok here we go.

Hrs getting desiccated either by air or ground. Most has been in the ground for over a 100 plus days so kill it or it will stay green for weeks yet.
Disease will take away the monster yield and it will be a average year in our area from 38 to 61. Now if you didn't spray probably 22 to 31. Most will escape a early frost.

Durum is finished for this area as a crop to grow. We sprayed at flag and then again at head and still have disease. Water in excess doesn't give you a bin buster. It gives you shit.

Barley
Most is being swath and most are wishing for three to five nice days with no rain to get.
Second growth is coming and fields are extremely wet. Yield will be good.

Canola a few fields are going down in our area. But some decided to wait a little while longer. Early seeded looks like will yield highest this year middle seeded poorest and late if no frost could be the best. Hail did do a number from the July 19 th Storm even not bad fields had 12 to 37% damage. If frost stays away for three weeks it will turn out not bad. Recovered from some of the floods but still no where near last years yield. Seeds will also be smaller.

Flax some nice some a twisted mess and some so thin not worth mentioning. Weeks away.

Peas are being harvested lots of disappointment. Looked better than did comments. Flood did get yield. Next guy a few miles away mind blowing ok south of valley.

Corn still looks good to great interesting to watch.

Soy again like last report floods hurt and still doesn't look like other years time will tell.

Pastures and hay a 10 but difficult to get fields bailed between rains.

So another week is done, days are getting shorter sun down at 8, heavy dew so strait ends at supper. Grain grading will be a shit show on all fronts. This canola thing with China is bull shit. Elevators charge us dockage heavier at elevators than crushers yet we have a problem.

So be safe and have a great harvest. It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Remember the ones at home are way more important than any fricking crop.

Don't take this personally because I enjoy your posts and we would probably be friends if we knew each other but how can you complain so much with a crop that looks like that and with the beautiful equipment.

in the area Bly being swathed and combined behind..Easier to find the water with a swather..
Yields are good..Moisture was in the 15's yesterday.
Some canola going down.We cut some.Swaths are big to massive..but its Dekalb..its standing very well..Pods I think are small...Hope its not a ugly surprise like last yr..
Wheat has 2nd and 3rd growth..Going to cut some today, hope to miss the rains and combine it in 3-4 days..
Fuzz is easy to find ..could be a write off..

SF3, your crops are standing, ours tend to like the leaning look. And yours look even in maturity. We are anxious to get going but we too get the odd shower and its so darn humid every day so lentils won't cure. Glad you are moving forward. Keep safe too. Appreciate seeing your report every week.

A neighbor used to say, "Don't let the Bastards grind you down". I suppose bastards could mean anything from the weather to people and everything in between.

I personally don't think you can withstand the onslaught for ever before the white flag gets raised.


Oh yeah,,,, crops are pretty good here! Can't wait til it's over....

Guy from Honeybee was around yesterday, he also farms in the Elrose area. His farm has had 39 inches of rain this yr. Crops are a right off! There is NO lentil crop anywhere, he went to swath mustard drove swather in field buried it.
He said the trade has no clue of the severity of what's taken place.

Challenging shit near here too, fields vary, water spots, some missing crop totally from early July floods.
Our fields as wet as early May. WTF is next spring going to be like? Any snow and rain....white flag time!

Neighbors doing barley, 2 and 6 row, was in 15's yesterday. Swathed ahead of combine, to see the WATER!

101..... the fuzz thing has stupid low tolerances for the top grades....a call to the CGC should be made.....maybe the wheat commissions should be putting pressure on to have tolerances increased? wmoebis?

Our crop doesn't appear to have the "obvious" infection of some other years. I'm not saying there is none, and I know there is, but I'm going to say "something righteous and hopeful for a change" and say it could have been alot worse. I'll let you know the final assessment when I get some wheat in the combine hopper. Until then.....
