High-protein wheat will remain in short supply, despite heavy harvest

High-protein wheat will continue in high demand, after disappointing quality levels in the US hard red winter wheat harvest, Rabobank said. "US high-protein markets will maintain wide premiums over feed going forward, with potential to widen even more," said the bank. Front-month Minn. spring wheat is trading at a US$1.16 3/4 a bushel premium to Kansas wheat, a four-year high.

Just a reminder if you have good quality and high protein yet your local elevator company says no premium or just pennies increase realize they don't play fair and want all the grave for them selves.

Last sample we ran to the terminal was about 13.8px.....I hope to at least maintain that level. Other issues....a wee bit of fusarium and some ergot. Otherwise quality "looks" good.

Real nice looking HRS but our local Terminal is grading like usual.

Tweezers out magnifying glasses on, Grade!

Do not expect a "premium" for high protein.
So far what is happening is that the low protein wheat is seeing greater discounts than a couple months ago.
The spread between #1 14.5 and #1 11.5 has increase over 20% since mid July.

Well, i guess it is a premium in a warped kind of way...

At least one local elevator has dropped px premiums by .02, going from .05/point to $.03. I agree that discounts will apply to lower px rather than higher premiums to high px.

Minneapolis December futures are down over 6% since mid July.

SK HRS price with anything over 12 % protein is steady. There. Could be worse?

Just like midge damage - scam , you get charged for cleaning wich does take out 99% of light damaged kernels . If they say no they are Fukin liers . We can easily clean out wheat midge with our 1960 air and screen , they sure as hell can with the big cleaners at elevators .

Latest wild oats news is that there is a huge hrsw crop with high protein in North Dakota that will cap any high protein premiums in Canada ...... Some one , or all of them are full of crap
