    Hard red wheat

Haven't had it this pretty in a while! Hope the 2/10 we had yesterday didn't take a bunch of color out.

    Looks great.
Just a heads up on protein premium values. Some areas starting to pull back on price premiums for very high protein HRSW.

Is a $5+ settle in MWZ16 this week too much to ask for?

That is mighty fine looking red wheat. That colour should be worth something. This year the stubbles are a picture also. I've never seen stubble like this in my life. The durum stooled like never before and they all filled. If only wheat and durum was worth its weight in gold -maybe someday. 👍

How come your wheat is standing up? Isn't it supposed to be laying down?

          Thanks guys.

Kinda curious to see pro content later today. This is Shaw Vb with ethrel applied to shorten it. Very uniform only 2 and a half feet tall. No pre harvest and no conventional fungicide.

I heard the same thing here 101 some high pro wheat around and they don't want to pay for pro because then the wheat will be too expensive for then. ...

          Riiiight.

Some of this well probably quite a bit we will end up selling direct to end users I think

            When was that seeded ?
Our best looking wheat was seeded last , around the 20th May , finished it Sat , made a 1 with 14.8-15 pro , 60 bpa
The first seeded wheat was the lowest yield and worst grade , 13.8 pro, 45 bpa may have to run through cleaner to get a 2 . Had more bleach than the later stuff but was riper when it was rained on.
More midge in the later wheat.
Not great yields but only had 1/2 in rain in June .

              Too expensive? ha!

Likely a blending problem for them at port to get the right spec in the ship. Windfall for millers.

Any fuzz? Ours would make a #1..nice and red except for the white ones.

Take a good look boys and girls. We may never see such beautiful colour again. As for quality, who could ask for much better. Too bad Canada isn't stuffed between China and India. No, I take that back.

We saw RED #1 wheat in 2013, 2014, 2015, just less fuz, same wheat, no midge. Yields have been decreasing each year with increasing RAINFALL! Furrow, you were drier, makes the diff. Durham needs nearly desert like conditions, with soil moisture.

we sold some #2 with 15.5 px for an extra 60 cent for the px a few days ago . it's actually a #1 but no one here was buying #1. only viterra and their px premium was poor . anyways it gave us $6 /bu . yield was good , guess we better quit bitching about wheat . it definitely paid the bills , unlike our malt/feed varieties or our hear canola . those two sure didn't like the 2.75 feet of rain we had

Cashed out the 2 b trains hauled in Saturday to save bin space
                              #1 14.8 pro for $5.78 - what a sad joke.
