Why is there so much anger towards the canola seed increase but I don't here any concern with regards to the impending carbon tax that over time could take 5 billion a year from the western Ag economy. This is real and is going to happen. Producers need to be demanding an exemption not only for them selves but also for the fertilizer industry. We compete on a global level and our competitors don't have this problem. This is a pure wealth transfer from farmers to consultants, government and all those involved in 'green' industries.

Don't get me started on a carbon tax..... This will happen!!!!! Our new liberal government is needing to balance the books somehow and this is the vehicle they will use. Not sure how you can fight something until it is actually announced. These Liberals have the entitlement attitude and they are going to take what is theirs.

It will be interesting to watch Alberta hit rock bottom in the next few years with record unemployment numbers and record deficits. Alberta is now phasing out coal powered power plants so they can purchase more expensive "cleaner" energy. Was it all worth it to impress Suzuki and Gore?
How would running aeration fans look on your farm if you double your electricity costs?
Why not increase cost of trucking, rail freight, fertilizer, propane, equipment, steel, diesel while we're at it since it's only $.....🙈
It sounds like imposing a carbon tax in SK and (maybe MB) will require the federal government forcing the provinces which will result in a court challenge. Interesting to see what kind of dictators we have for PM and environment minister.
The cleanest form of energy from a GHG perspective is nuclear but the people who would oppose that would be the same groups who want to impose a carbon tax.

Nudge, I posted different times last winter about how farmers will be incurring the carbon tax for growing the food for ALL NON PRODUCERS ! with absolutely no way to pass those costs on to the processors or consumers. Without crediting farmers for their carbon sink, or having a rebate system(like GST), we'll be bearing all the carbon tax for every urbanite that eats in this country.
With the massive amount land in crops, grass and forest in this country, some studies say we're a net zero emitter of carbon, proving this is just a tax scheme.
Of course the biggest pushers of this scheme also come from the warmest parts of this country. Truduea hasn't and or won't, lobby for larger global community carbon output due to our sub-arctic location, there's no consideration that you might need to use RELIABLE ENERGY just to stay alive in a country with this high of latitude and so much land mass from warm ocean currents/weather.

This was next weeks bitch of the Day but since you brought it up.
Justin Trudeau will go down in history as the second Idiot from that family to screw, kill, destroy the west and take our wealth and hand it over to the useless pieces of shit from Ontario and Quebec.
This has nothing to do with Climate change or taking canada to clean country. Hell we put our what 2% of worlds CO2.
Get China and all the big polluters to do something then maybe we will do our share.
Also haven't since 1981 i been direct seeding and capturing carbon in my soil on all my land. WTF is that just a charity for the David Suzukis.
Brad take this little F$%Ker and nail his sorry ass to the cross. This is war with Eastern Canada.
Oh yea Alberta has a Idiot running the show also who is doing her share to destroy the west. One NDP province at a time.
Also hasn't the genius in Ontario Just about bankrupt Ontario going green.
WTF
Canada run by IDIOTS.

Brad Wall must be part of the conspiracy too. 1.2 billion invested in carbon capture and storage at Boundary? This is the most expensive way to reduce carbon dioxide. Brad is also planning that 50 % of Saskatchewan's power will be from renewables by 2030.
This is what Bloomberg's New Energy Finance says in their 2016 report:
https://www.bloomberg.com/company/new-energy-outlook/
Power findings
8 eye-catching findings from this year’s report
Coal and gas prices stay low. A projected supply glut for both commodities cuts the cost of generating power by burning coal or gas, but will not derail the advance of renewables.
Wind and solar costs drop. These two technologies become the cheapest ways of producing electricity in many countries during the 2020s and in most of the world in the 2030s. Onshore wind costs fall by 41% and solar PV costs fall by 60% by 2040.[/B][/B]
Asia-Pacific leads in investment, representing 50% of all new investment worldwide. Despite slower growth in the near-term, China remains the most important center of activity.
Electric car boom. EVs increase global electricity demand by 8% – reflecting BNEF’s forecast that they will represent 35% of new light-duty vehicle sales in 2040, some 90 times the 2015 figure.
Cheap batteries everywhere. The rise of EVs further squashes the cost of lithium-ion batteries, boosting power storage and working with other flexible capacity to help balance renewables.
A limited ‘transition fuel’ role for gas outside of the US, with only 3% growth in gas demand for power to 2040, and generation peaking in 2027.
Coal’s diverging trajectories. Coal generation plummets in Europe and peaks in 2020 in the US and in 2025 in China; however it increases 7% globally due to rapid growth in other Asian and African emerging markets.
2â°C scenario. On top of the forecasted $9.2tn investment in zero-carbon power, an extra $5.3tn is needed by 2040 to prevent power-sector emissions rising above the IPCC’s ‘safe’ limit of 450 parts per million.

" but will not derail the advance of renewables.", easy statement but why will they NOT derail?
All the projections are great, but where do the TRILLIONS come from? You and me? Smoke and mirrors... more lies /guesses/BS, if without taxes fine!
If it makes economic sense we will all change, but don't hurt me with taxes to force us to change.
INCENTIVES not DISINCENTIVES! Carrot not stick.Last edited by fjlip; Sep 24, 2016, 16:23.

The solution is easy, everyone wins
- keep interest rates low
- keep pumping up every thing green, social responsibility, etc build and support break even industry
- pay for it with QE (money printing),
- the stock markets, bond market and pension funds all happy
