Wheat, peas and canola all lower than last year all by 10-15%. Barley still laying in field seeded malt won't harvest malt. What is everybody else seeing?

Remarkably better than last year but remember all the moaning and groaning I did about last year's stingey results. But it is still quite a bit better than the average we're used to.
Might have some quality issues with certain grain.Last edited by farmaholic; Sep 26, 2016, 19:02.

Only harvested oats so far. The sand was as expected, the heavy land so far is very good. There is something about oats on hemp stubble that works but I dont know what it is. Air bins are full of tough milling oats .
Tried some Trudeau hemp today. Drove 300 metres and plugged the combine very well. Just not ready.

Oh my hobby, I thought you were going to say you rolled a joint and smoked it! Good thing you made yourself clear.

My personal worst crop ever. By a long, long shot. My best field may go 12-15. My worst will be almost nothing. You can not see the swaths on the bad field, because there is almost no canola there. Best field is about 50% gone. Worst field is debatable to run the combine over. I estimate 80% of that field will be ZERO yield. Like no canola plants. Best soil, on my farm, nothing there. Frustrating swathing, because you can see how close it was to a pretty great crop. A one or two foot change in elevation is the difference between what could have been excellent, and ZERO.
Too wet again, at the worst possible time, emergence. Real shocker. Seed timing sucked due to spring harvest of half my acres from last year.
Lots of summerfallow for me next year. I simply have to fix the ruts of this last decade. I am breaking equipment because rain makes grain.

freewheat. you might want to rent a pull dozer to fix those ruts. a sixteen or eighteen foot can cover a lot of ground in a day. making summerfallow will only increase the soils moisture holding capability. also making summer fallow does not totally get rid of the ruts and you may also sneak in a little pot hole filling and draing. just an idea.
