    Any one deliver to Northgate?

Actually, the Northgate Commodities Logistics Centre about 60 km southeast of Estevan hasn’t seen too many slow days since the first railcars started rolling south in January 2015. Officially opened in May 2016, the 2.7 million bushel capacity grain terminal which has rail service connecting to BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Railway is moving about 100 railcars per week, with a wide range of commodities headed to not only to U.S. markets but into Mexico, Europe and Asia.

On any given day this fall, anywhere from 50 up to 200 grain trucks from Saskatchewan and Manitoba farms within a 200 km radius of Northgate, are delivering to the facility built around the long-abandoned hamlet of Northgate where Highway 9 crosses the Canadian/U.S. border. The Northgate terminal is built along one of the few rail-crossing points along the U.S. border in Western Canada.

Yes exactly a bit of a hike 4 us but F the local Viterra they f'd me on some red lentil overage recently after doing them the favour of hauling in early when begged to. I'm sick of their games! I'm starting to sound a little like Wiseguy, lol. Anyways competition to the line co's always a good thing.

Hauled there in 2016 and just finished hauling around 1,200t of contract this fall. Excellent setup IMO, people are great, so far. Seems they'll make good relationships with those that deliver what the samples brought in showed. Hwy 9 south is in good shape(for now). Seem to move trucks good, have found grading always fair. Canola dockage real good compared with V and also R either direction up the road. They're getting lots of shipping and have never been full, AFAIK. Will be hauling A LOT more grain there. I think they've had their fill of durum right now, anyway. TOO much Vomi.(just like the neighbouring plants), but at some point, that will likely change. Very happy to be so close to a third rail company. Burlington Northern, not so busy with crude right now.

Can we get our grain there by rail? What lines run into there? Would save a lot of trucking.

Now that's just silly talk ache4acres.....haven't you watched the systematic destruction, rationalization and consolidation of the rail and elevator system for the last two or three decades? They got us where they want us and providing more service "at our convenience and BENEFIT" is the furthest thing from their minds!

Oddly enough, some shortlines are able to eke out an existence where the almighty established giants couldn't! Imagine that!

They have been excellent there. Have sent a fair amount of grain from this way down there. Curt, Jason, and Rhonda are a pleasure to work with. Some bids haven't been great at times but overall excellent place to work with.

We have hauled quite a bit there since they opened. Things have got smoother as they finished construction, although the new Koch fert bins are now being built. No rail from Canada now , as the original line that ran south from Frobisher was pulled out some years ago after no traffic in my memory. The line that ran to the General Mills elevator on the ND side was extended back into Canada again.

Seems silly to me when looking at RR map that N gate is connected by rail to every area and just about every state to deliver grain. But not one line to deliver product to the site.

I am surprised how you all seem to like them. I was very hopeful that they would bring an aggressive wheat bid but have been very disappointed at their bids so far. Maybe I need to call and talk to them directly but their daily email wheat bid leaves me surprised they are handling any wheat at all.

Interesting thing for me too is that since Ceres bought part of Steward Southern Rail that runs from Regina to Stoughton, two more companies are building special crops plants along that railway. There has been lots of work on that line the past few years. Years ago I had one plant at Filmore that I could haul to, Now within a short time I have 5 plants (including the Saskcan plant at Regina just off 33) that I can deliver to. That's progress IMO.

I don't think CNR or CPR have any intention to connect to the BNSF.

It would be great if a short line would connect Stoughton to Northgate, there is a path with right of way still existing, but part of it is still being used by CNR(Carlyle to Lampman), which they still move crude and frack sand on.
It would go, Stoughton to Carlyle(not sure about the right of way for that short way), then to Lampman, Frobisher, Northgate.

Isn't that where the Gov'ts could step in and expropriate for the good of Canada? Since the last gov't had no foresight when allowing it to go ahead.
