By late evening yesterday all the snow had left again and lets hope or Pray like Drew Said that the weather breaks. Some have reported that their still is 5 mill tonnes of Canola left in the fields. I would agree. that is 18 - 5= 13 total production because wintering canola has two options. It makes something or Eddy Match. Most times its Eddy Match.

So basically its a real easy report no one did any Fall work any Banding any Harvesting etc in the last week. Ugly weather for the area. Roads are soft slimmy mess. Back roads are off limits and real ugly. Sprayers are mostly put away as all fall spraying from now on is done.

If we Can go My guess it would be Saturday or Sunday. But now they are calling for rain friday and Sunday. With the Dryer we could go as soon as the crop can go through the machine but it is hard on combines and makes for big bills after harvest. Is it worth it? Yes you still have to try till the last day to get the crop harvested.

The remaining crop is a long way from being in the bin and ready for winter.

So what are others seeing in their area and how much snow is still left. Fields are fracking wet as picture above no water was their a week ago and swaths went strait through.

Be safe have a good tow rope, pull tractor etc. Its going to be some long hours if we get it.

Its just a crop that the market still believes we will get and pay us sweet F$%K all for.

    Have a great week!

I would say the area has about 30% left to harvest. South Valley less but still guys with crop out.

Checked out some standing Canola yesterday while quading looking for Moose and I would guess 20% is shelled and gone. It wont go any sooner than swath.

Some areas south and north of here still buried in snow .
We still have scattered snow here but more snow / rain on the way within the next 12-24 hrs.

Sask3 at least the snow is melting off your canola swaths. Mine are still covered with snow. Latest forecast is for freezing rain and snow friday in area south of Edmonton to just north of Calgary on Friday. Edmonton North up to 15 cm of snow. Looks to me like Friday could be the day the fat lady sings in a good portion of Alberta.

So Alberta Crop report will show no progress as well for week or will she play with the numbers. Like Sask. likes to do.

Now will be interesting if Sask changes their report today as it rained the last 7 days just about all over the province.

Spraying.... Mother Nature desiccated it overnight. Minus 6 for three and a half hours already.... and freezing loooong before that. Clean it up and put it away. What a fall for harvest and fall work.

Saw a couple combines working slowly in beans yesterday, but no other crops are going threw the machine. Thinking, if your going to be combining in Oct, beans will always go through better than flax(most is still out standing and losing bolls everyday)

Will disagree SF3 about the standing canola, unless it's really lodged, it will certainly go through before swathes that have had enough rain on them to be soaked up. Will take some good wind to dry out those heavy swathes this time of year, shattering on the standing was brutal last go around, 2 or 3 weeks back.

Alberta report might show a little progress since last report. Sask likely will be next to nothing.

According to Oliver's map, we're in the brown area, so things are probably different here. Still 80% flax out, 10% canola and some crappy durum, oats, lentil patches, and beans, through out the district.
