Actually neither Notely or JT won a majority of the vote. We are stuck with the damage both these clowns are going to cause and neither had a majority of the vote. JT is now happy with first past the post now that the Liberals are in power. Big surprise.

Notley will win again. She will not cut the government staff. She did inherit a wreck though, the conservatives could not balance the budget at 100 dollar oil. Most people understand that. She has not done anything out of the ordinary yet in my view. The carbon tax was coming if she put in in or not. There probably will be a sales tax soon as oil patch in dire straights,....though they would pay minimal royalties even at 100 dollar oil. I think would rather have a sales tax then raising income taxes, but who knows.

Sask and Albeta are very similar on debt. We just have Brad who is a Better Storyteller. Lol

I must admit, grassfarmer, I find it funny... you moved from Alberta to MB and ended up under a conservative government again.... What are your views on Pallister? Seems like he's doing a good start of cleaning up a huge mess?
Can't say I've noticed any difference in Manitoba since the PC's won. Only thing that's really changed on the year from a Governmental point of view has been property tax increases on farmland of 50% in some cases. More a reflection of increased land prices than anything else.

Your useless Notley is a one term Alberta mistake!
I don't know why you think Notley is anything to do with me - never voted for the NDP, never been a party member. Read that slowly too and it might sink in.

Grassfarmer, the huge increase in farm land taxes was a legacy of Greg Selinger. Selinger brought in the forced amalgamation failure, and hanged the Municipal Act to allow outrageous proportioning resulting in taxes from farmland financing urban paving and water projects in towns Selinger had an obvious secret desire to reduce any power rural ratepayers may have had and make them mere serfs to those elite inside the perimeter. Sounds a lot like soviet Russia used to be.
You say nothing has changed under Pallister. Well give him time. He inherited the largest financial mess of any province in Canada that had been run by the most unpopular Premier ever.

If you have 8 1/2 minutes to watch this clip, you will get a glimpse of where Ontario and Alberta are headed, Ontario being much farther down the path than Alberta with the liberals bringing in the basic guaranteed income - "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need..." The ability diminished and the needs increased - surprise!
Notley reminders me of "Ivy Starnes" from this clip -

Me and politics wow what? Try reading my original post again, slowly this time and you will maybe be able to understand there was no political bias in it - it was an apolitical statement of fact.

Some fair comments I think nicolass. No idea if she will win again, long time in politics till 2019.

Well, Hammy...have to retort on some of your post...but do agree with some.
Think Notely's clamping down on the payday money loaners was badly needed...and welcomed.
Bill 6, agreed handled badly, but badly needed. Conversation today.....one of the loudest voices in this area against Bill 6 (and his 12 employees that weren't covered), however when his own son became injured on another outfit, his cries of no compensation were as loud. Farm claims in Alberta have doubled...so obviously there was/is a problem.
She stuck to her election promises...yes even in bad times, but the bad times had started before she got on board, so her electorate went in being forewarned. Much of her opposition could have been quenched if she did back off, however it is refreshing to see someone follow through.
Carbon....whether you believe in the cause or not, it is being spoken about and reviewed. Only the totally staunch "out there's' will not admit we are a wasteful society...and could do much more. We have a long ways down, before we can even begin to complain about our lifestyle...we...not just kids...have become much too much "entitled." We needed a dose of reality!
The corporations that have gotten away with not paying royalties and provincial tax are being looked at...now that their "friends" are not in charge.
Highly paid provincial executives are being looked into....
Yes, lots of mistakes, however, being thrown into one of the biggest turndowns in Alberta's history, we are actually doing not bad. Still more shat to hit the fan, and she is acknowledging this.
Yes, I do see lots of issues I don't agree with, but still cannot stand for corruption. It was the best choice at the time......Last edited by perfecho; Oct 19, 2016, 21:43.
