I moved close to 600mt of peas and lentils off the combine. Paid promptly and in full. Lentils were 2 and extra 3 and discounts on the contract were honored.

Not going to point any one out biglentil , just looking to see if this is a one off thing or more widespread.
It has happened before in many cases with pulses and other speacial crops , resulting in farmers getting hung for long , long periods of time with out payment and nothing but excuses.
Hard to manage farm income when that happens . Most off us sell grain to manage expenses.
Hopefully this was just a glitch and not a sign of things to come again.

In the special crops market, we've been lucky to have local seed plants, usually neighbours to us to deal with. Their reputation is well-known long before they built the plant. We have never since 1980 had a problem with several local plants. Not to mention the fact that our trucking costs are minimal for special crops.

I am a bit concerned that higher-priced pre-sold contracts may be producer delivered and foreign buyers may be renegging. Because of the huge increase in acres, this year could be one of the largest contracting years as farmers tried to lock in last years high prices. Just from experience in the market, I have seen this happen. The foreign buyers look at the price they contracted for in the spring and go onto our websites and compare to the offered price today and want to wiggle out, putting the contracting company in a squeeze. Not saying this is happening for sure, but just saying I have seen this happen many years.

At least if you deal with a licensed and bonded company you are covered and if have trouble collecting you can go to CGC and they will look into it for you.

Clearly some companies speculated and got on the wrong side of the trade. Now Mr Farmer needs to help cash flow these clowns again. But us farmers don't like to name names so we will never learn. Reminds me of a puppy and a old mother farm cat. The pup keeps expecting a different outcome but the end result is always the same.

If it is true, your cheque is late, devulging that does not make it liabulous. As I understand it, only if you spread falsehoods about anyone is it liabulous. Facts are facts and this is a free country, isn't it?
