The media and the left-wing parties will shred any candidate that shows her/himself to hold any views that differ from the corrupt and entrenched mainstream slop that passes for politics today.

Ask for fiscal cutbacks - cold-hearted beast. Call for personal responsibility - trampling on the underprivileged. Hold up moral integrity - certainly a phobic of some sort, stuck in the past.

And the intensity and depravity of their attacks is so severe that no person of normal stamina would even think of trying to run. They don't just mean to frighten you - they want to finish you off.

Until this country shows that there is a critical mass who understands that the mess we are in was created by selfish human nature exerting itself over a higher standard, there is no hope of returning to what we once had.

Oh boo hoo, you are getting as bad as Trump with claims there is no way that a Conservative can ever get elected with everything rigged against them - the media and the opposition all out to get them. Rather ignores the fact that we just came off a 9 year federal Conservative reign and a 43 year reign in Alberta - how were these even possible if everything was rigged? Perhaps what Burnt laments is the fact that a Lincoln for example, although despised by half the people, still would not get elected in our world today. (Mary Todd, would not withstand todays tactics, for one.) Common sense has been banned as terminology. It is prejudicial of course.
Newspapers, instead of bowing to an owner (at the time), bow to the breeze. And no one in our society is allowed to question 'common knowledge'. Or is any good at it to be fair.
