Thanks SF3 for the tribute. I wish I could have had a few beers with that fellow cotton. Been hanging around this site for more than a dozen years and truly feel connected to the many that share their opinions and thoughts.
We were one of the lucky ones to get wrapped up on the last day of September before the weather went to shit up here in the Peace.
Lots of crop up here out standing and in the swath with very little coming off in October. Making it more difficult as there was a lot of 50 bu plus canola that will pay bills and the farmers. Our machines are ready to go when and if the weather breaks to help friends and neighbors, but with more snow this week and excessive moisture and short days the forecast may not be good enough for us.
Good luck to all and be safe.
Here is to memories of sunny and dusty harvest days in September

Guys trying to do standing stuff still 18 to no reading. Friend is drying for another neighbor and all I can say is its painfully slow and expensive. Shovel it out of the trailers into the wet bin then get your safety work harness on and repell into the bin and knock down the bridged canola. Dangerous and time consuming. All I can say is keep your head up and hope for better weather to get this nightmare over with. Feel for all those with lots to go.

Canola tested 13 at 3pm in the swath and its been over a week since we've seen any precip. I think the market is overly optomistic that this baby is going to come off yet. Some might but days are short, sun is low and weak, humidity is high...fat lady is warming up her chops. Last chance for Canolahol doors are closing. Bins are on lockdown not falling for it. I know guys with what looked like 60bus stands yielding in the 30's. Did the sattelites catch that? How much is going to heat? Not many have driers and who didn't push the limit on taking tough grain. Run your fans only at night good fricken luck.
I could be wrong but I'm thinkin $12 or better by Christmas time.Last edited by biglentil; Nov 3, 2016, 23:48.
