Guys doing any WET canola had more loss, concaves plugged, some gave up. No fun at all, yes crop is smaller in many ways. And spoiling in bins, keep an eye on stored too. If you were able to combine, you are drier. RP not taking deliveries of any canola combined in Oct, even if dried.

Thanks SF3 for the tribute. I wish I could have had a few beers with that fellow cotton. Been hanging around this site for more than a dozen years and truly feel connected to the many that share their opinions and thoughts.
We were one of the lucky ones to get wrapped up on the last day of September before the weather went to shit up here in the Peace.
Lots of crop up here out standing and in the swath with very little coming off in October. Making it more difficult as there was a lot of 50 bu plus canola that will pay bills and the farmers. Our machines are ready to go when and if the weather breaks to help friends and neighbors, but with more snow this week and excessive moisture and short days the forecast may not be good enough for us.
Good luck to all and be safe.
Here is to memories of sunny and dusty harvest days in September

Guys trying to do standing stuff still 18 to no reading. Friend is drying for another neighbor and all I can say is its painfully slow and expensive. Shovel it out of the trailers into the wet bin then get your safety work harness on and repell into the bin and knock down the bridged canola. Dangerous and time consuming. All I can say is keep your head up and hope for better weather to get this nightmare over with. Feel for all those with lots to go.

Canola tested 13 at 3pm in the swath and its been over a week since we've seen any precip. I think the market is overly optomistic that this baby is going to come off yet. Some might but days are short, sun is low and weak, humidity is high...fat lady is warming up her chops. Last chance for Canolahol doors are closing. Bins are on lockdown not falling for it. I know guys with what looked like 60bus stands yielding in the 30's. Did the sattelites catch that? How much is going to heat? Not many have driers and who didn't push the limit on taking tough grain. Run your fans only at night good fricken luck.
I could be wrong but I'm thinkin $12 or better by Christmas time.Last edited by biglentil; Nov 3, 2016, 23:48.

Im thinking like big lentil. I have guys with out dryers that think aeration at this time of year will keep the crop, it might but try getting it out of the bottom as it cakes and clumps and well its a fracking mess. Then the stories of if you guys are going it must be dry. Yea after the dryer.
But all the remainder might have to be dryed and here is why. Swaths are wet standing has lodged areas that are wet and you still have spikes in crop where moisture hits 18 or 16 or 14 even if it is 11 so tell me how that will keep in a bin.
The market is nuts with hopes and dreams.
One the yields are not as big as they were yapping all year.
two the crop has gotten smaller after the rain and snow than it was before.
three lots will not make it till January let alone December. Even some of our dried might have issues. its a gamble you take.
This baby isn't even close to be done.
Short days hell the sun drops at 5 by 5:30 its gone and in morning dew or frost or just wet because the ground it so wet.
Why do the make it sound like its lucky charms Magically its harvested.
Oh checked they are buying dried canola. Why not the grain companies didn't have to do sweet F$%K all and its dry.
