    Canary seed Stocks/Use and Prices...

From a Newsletter I subscribe to:

    Canary seed Stocks/Use

    14/15--- 5.7%
    15/16--- 3.2%
    16/17--- 3.8%(forecast)
    10 yr average--- 26%

How could this be accurate? The prices aren't really reflective of stocks being that tight for 3 years in a row.

Prices in the 24-25 cent/lb. range.

Did the market dry up because of tough economic times?

Hoping for more demand from the approval of human consumption...

I don't have a price chart to post from the last time(recent history) stocks were considered low.
    Can you help farming101?

    10/11--- 15.5%
    11/12--- 12.0%
    12/13--- 15.4%

Or is reporting for the stocks/use that far out to lunch that it doesn't truly reflect actual stocks?

Its just that you would expect to see stronger prices at such low stock levels.

The biggest screw job of any product farmers are producing. Print money scheme for the middlemen. Absolutely no transparency in what anyone is paying for it to the middlemen.
Let's have less people regulating the industry so this can get worse.

Was woundering about canary as well
50% of the current crop still out in an area that virtually can't combine . Yet prices have not moved at all.
Farma , canary seed price has been stuck in a small range , .22 to .25 ever since Mexico complained about dockage thanks to a processor that shipped some uncleaned canary a few years back.
Might be a crop to watch for next year.

Up till the end of 2015. Have never grown canary. My understanding is supply and demand has always been a big unknown.

What is the best varieties to seed? Does it make good sense to go to the new hairless varieties?

The guy that knows this space should chime in. ... to add a bit of transparency.

You would think there should have been another leg up in prices the last three years since the 15% S/U in 2010-13. Why would prices be stuck at that level? When the needle on the S/U tank is "bouncing off empty"?

The market has either adjusted prices(tough economic times) or there is more out there than is being reported or "tinfoil" theory of price collusion?

101... do you have the data and ability to overlay prices and S/U on the chart.

                Thanks for the help.

Drying flax. Will check later. But based on canary history I think you need to factor in a good sized margin for error when looking at stocks/use

Any updates on canary seed prices?

The price has seem to have dropped slightly since harvest and has been flat since.
