Everyone should count their lucky stars that Trump got in. A Hillary win would have been a disaster for US-Russia relations. The world is a much safer place today.

Donald has the potential to right the ship and believe me thats in everyones best interest. The middle class has been nearly wiped out, unemployment sky high, and hope fading. Hillary would have been great if you want to live in a Madmax post nuclear apocalypse.

What we witnessed last night was a cultural war. The disenfranchised rural vote, Midwest, Rust Belt, "fly over states", spoke loudly. Working people sick of elites, sick of Wall Street bankers, sick of pay to play politics. Trump represented the only candidate from the beginning that couldn't be swayed by special interest groups. He made the people his special interest group and they rewarded him with a mandate. He was a hand grenade lobbed into politics in the US. I especially loved his, "and, we're going to drain the swamp in Washington" line.

Who will drain our swamp? Will anyone step up to pull us to dry safe ground out of the muck of the carbon taxing, inheritance robbing, deficit inflating muck in Ottawa?

Finally we have some one who will call BS on the climate change propaganda, Yay! Coal mines will be dug starting soon and Keystone will be built but it will cost us more. He campaigned on the plank that he will pull America out of the hole that they dug for themselves. Also, he said he will rip up Nafta, the Paris Accord and most of the others. He will stop Muslim imigration for awhile and surely the Mexican wall is his first priority. The criminal element better watch it now. He could just drop criminals on the other side of that wall, LOL. There will be interesting times. Hope he lets us in when we fly to Vegas. I definitely will take my tufbin off.

On a lighter side, Mick Jagger just tweeted he has been invited to sing at Trumps inauguration. Said he wants to sing"you cant always get what you want"

Only problem I see with Trump winning is who we have running Canada.
Now if we had Harper back I'd be very happy.
Mr hair-do truedo and Trump are exact opposites.
Now if only we could get a Trump type person to run Canada.
The guy actually cares about his country. Must be nice having a leader like that.

Congratulations to Trump and his supporters. For the sake of the world, I really hope this populist movement is successful. My biggest fear is what will happen when Trump simply cannot live up to his rhetoric and expectations of his own supporters.

Trump built his empire on debt. Right wing analysis of Trump's economic plan say Trump's plan will add 5.9 trillion to the US debt over the next 4 years. So much for cutting debt.

If he does follow his protectionism plan, costs will rise on consumer goods. How will people who voted for Trump because they felt economically squeezed will react to higher consumer costs.

He will ease regulations on all business. We know what happened in 2008 when banks were given free reign. What will happen if business rights exceed those of individuals?

Who will do the work currently done by illegals if he does deport them? What Americans are willing to pick the fruit and hoe the vegetables? Or will food prices have to rise to pay the higher wages, better working conditions, and mechanization that will be needed?

Most scary is if he does not live up to the demands of the fringe groups who supported his campaign. What will happen if he doesn't deport immediately - even though business needs those workers? What will happen if he doesn't build the wall?

Already the global markets are unsettled to say the least.

In the curse of the Chinese: "May you live in interesting times" may have never been more true.

Many months ago I have read a lot and watched a video on how an economy works. I also read on the different ways money was leaving the US. This made me listen more closely to the questions and answers from them. Not only I liked how clear and to the point Trump was, but I also thought he was on the right track more than Hillary.

After seeing a few of our parliamentary sessions I agree we need to clear our swamp also.

                      SASKFARMER3, well said.

Now if we had a contender here at home who could kick the elitists to the curb as they so desperately deserve, we could make progress. But there hasn't been enough pain yet for people to be ready to do that.

It will be interesting to see how much more industry will move to the USA or Mexico when we get to suffer under the Liberal's carbon tax scheme while the Donald's USA rejects the ponzi scheme built on AGW.

Here is where I miss cottonpicken's opinion...

I must admit his wanting to reduce red tape is appealing, but human rights should Trump most anything else IMO. Is it the end of the world, absolutely not, are we going backwards, IMO we are.
Comments like these are unfortunately popular with liberals after an election loss common on CBC.
Racist, sexist, .........basically just saying certain voters aren't capable of decision making and insulting half of USA voters in a smug arrogant way.

I watched CNN , CTV , BBC and CBC late last night when Trump was going to win .
Wow , CBC took the cake . Never has media bias been so blatantly on display .
They were far worse than CNN even .
And to think all Canadians pay for that crap through our tax's .

                                Cheers
