Well the Harvest from Hell is turning into the Miracle or November. The above is to show what our flooded ugly shit looks like. Yes it wasn't the whole farm but one area got hammered with every fracking storm all summer and then two minor hail storms to leave us with shit like this. So yes this is going to drag down on my total yield real good. Five quarters in this block all effected.
Damage was to 5 out of the 30 canola. Hrs and oats seem to take the excess water better than other crops like Canola and Peas.
Now for the crop report for our area. The last two nights looked like it was the start of Sept with the moon almost full and combine lights in every direction. Yes some just texted last night that they finally finished. Some are moving to neighbours to help finish and some are just packing equipment up. Spraying is going on and field work has started up again Lots spiking ground as those fields proved to be better than ones not touched. Yes rain makes grain but mud is a dud.
So far no one is putting anhydrous down as most are concentrating on getting their crop off or helping neighbours. Yes our area most go help neighbours. Most. Some are trying to harrow straw but that is proving not so good. Lots of bunching. Flax is getting burnt.
Grain that is being harvested just got dry last night. So up to this point guys have just about dry grain to tough to dry or blend off or move. Dryers are going all over the place and lots have set up systems. Funny two days ago at night it got dry or close and then a heavy wet frost and the whole next day the grain was needed to be dried. Then yesterday afternoon it finally got dry. Funny how wet frost and short days and min sun and wind can make November harvesting a real challenge. We will be down to a section of Canola left today. We are moving north to finish off the strait cut that was swath at 96% colour change it looks good and if dry should be taken at 4.6 MPH. Don't sell the swather its BUllshit. I wouldn't of come close to finishing without it. Yes the dryer helps but short days and 1.2 MPH to 2.4 MPH vs 4 or higher time speed and length of time you can go after dark. We will hit 94% done today.
So just a typical October in November.
Again take care out their its only a crop that they will get in the end.
Now on another topic some one please help push the donations to chads family over the $13,000.00 Mark its $70.00 thats a small amount and most farmers can cover that amount. Think about it this family cant go back to their family home or wont. Would any of you want to go back! Yes Suicide is awful but think of his young family and look at yours and count your blessings every single day of the year. Family is family and agriville is like one to a lot of people. Some 8000 read his obituary yet 80 donated. Yes this isn't a forum for asking for donation to this cause of that but one of our own is gone and not coming back and the ones at home are hurting. So if you can please try to donate some thing even $20.00 would do.
Thank you to all who have given.
