                  Dear Agrivillers,

                  Your judge for this contest, Mr. Phil Shaw, was awarded an Emmy by the Academy of Arts and Sciences, and is smart and witty and has travelled the world. He is pouring over your song entries as I write this, listening to your choices while sucking up the Arizona sun.

                  For those who spent the weekend sunbathing in Prairie's November sunshine, you have until Monday nite at midnight to post your favourite tune. Phil will spend Tuesday choosing the winner.

                  The winner will be announced on this site, (excluding my tune posted amongst the mix because I have undue influence...).

                  I'll have the winner's prize in the mail next week. What an interesting variety of songs! Pars

                    EXCUSE THE ADS BEFORE THE MUSIC VIDEOS

                    Two re-makes done by Disturbed, I liked both the originals to start with:

                    "Land of Confusion",,,,, original by Genesis(Phil Collins,1986), the remake was done by Disturbed(2005), an angrier version. At about 4:50 into Genesis' version of the song/video if you look very closely you will see Phil QUICKLY pop up amongst the singing group and then drop back down. A reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey, with the bone being thrown in the air. Lots of other stuff too, tonnes of caricature masks... see how many you can identify! The Disturbed version seems to have Pink Floyd, The Wall, style animation and the video shows how the people are fighting back and taking down "Big Money". In another 20 years it will still be relevant.

                    And then "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel(1964, a year before I was born) a very "folky" style. And once again, Disturbed(2015) with the much harder angrier version, yet has an element of a "classical music" tone to it.

                    Both songs still culturally significant today...

                    Moral- Music and it's message can stand the test of time.

                    ps. apologies to those who find the Disturbed versions too hard to listen to.... it's not for everyone!

                    Does the type of music a person listens to "define" them? I guess I may not fit the "farmer style" of music that would be associated with the farming/country lifestyle.

                    Music=organized noise.

                    Take care!

                    Thanks for starting this thread Parsley.
