    Boy blunder now going to kill coal!

    Our boy genius now wants to kill coal. Is he just stupid, insane or a walking disaster.
    What song sheet is he singing from, Ontario and their program is bankrupt. All places all over the world are increasing power generation with coal. Canada has coal yet boy genius is going to kill it.
    Obama had the same idea, first thing after he is gone coal is back.

    China is building a bunch of new coal fired power plants.

    Saskatchewan has over a 100 years supply. Again hurt the west and take Canada one step closer to bankruptcy. His father started us on this road now he is continuing.

      If I was Brad I would let time run it course and soon people will wake up before 2030. Basically tell him and his bunch, yes ok and do sweet F&k all.

      Canada is going backwards at a million miles a hour and picking up speed.

        Listening to the radio on the weekend ....people in Ontario can't afford their energy bills.

        People are turning their heat down 10 degrees and wearing winter outer wear in their apartments.

        Or they put their hot water heaters on timers....

        Green energy is unaffordable and chasing business away.

              Does any one think us peasants in canada are starting to resemble people living in east Germany during the wall and the poorest of poor in Russia or any place and a few live in luxury running the show.

                Sure looks like "carbon capture" of CO2 from coal burning was one of the biggest wastes of billions of dollars of resources in Saskatchewan's history.

                ITS EVIDENT THAT WHETHER IT WAS Practical/workable/FEASIBLE OR NOT WAS IRRELEVANT. There was no intent of giving it a chance to succeed in Canada. I suppose it could find a place somewhere else in the world; but the Federal government really put Sask in its place today.

                Note to self... always remember to continue to beware of spawn of any Trudeau.

                  About China:

                  "China began an ambitious program to cut coal consumption in 2011.
                  China is shutting 2,000 small coal mines per year.
                  They've reduced their coal use growth rate to 1/3 in four years:

                  2010 = 9.5%
                  2011 = 9.5%
                  2012 = 2.8%
                  2013 = 2.6%

                  Between 2013 and 2014, they reduced coal production by 200 million tons. Over the Last year they reduced Coal output by 7.4%.

                  China has closed all coal power plants in Beijing, reducing production by 9.2 million tons/year.
                  They will reduce coal consumption by 13 million per year by 2017.

                  China is switching to renewable energy faster than anyone else in the world - will get 85% of its energy from renewables by 2050"

                  I'd post the links citing the data used but won't waste my time as no-one would read them anyway. Good for Canada though, about time I'd say to leave this dirty fuel behind.

                      Was given all kinds of reasons not to worry about it from a panel of experts on the CTV.
                      Might give us a head start on the new technologies.
                      Lots of new jobs.
                      Guess where? Not rural western Canada for sure.
                      Possibly China?
                      Green wind and solar are getting cheaper.
                      If we keep the tariffs on the Chinese panels to protect the tiny Ontario industry are we going to get cheaper?

                      Canada is seen an one of the most desirable countries in the world to emigrate to because our wealth of natural resources creates a strong economy with opportunity for everyone.

                      To hell with all that, lets go high tech. Get some real respect on those world travels.

                      Scary stuff.

                      By next summer I bet Trump could win here.

                        That's the first I've of China cutting coal. They are always buying lots of North American coal. Just watched Toronto ctv news talking about how screwed Ontario is with there hydro. Crazy how they got that bad.

                          Recent statistics indicate a large % of the heating and electric generation in China is coal, recent statistics were as high as 65% As for shutting down plants this became essential as many did not employ even basic clean coal technology, employed by Sask. Power.

                          Could someone tell us, what is base load when coal is gone: nuclear, hydro, gas? Renewable energy is a substitute, but will never be base load, especially in Canada.

                            Grassfarmer, if I read your post correctly, it says China has reduced it's growth rate in the use of coal. Which means the use of coal is still growing. But what really matters is that Gerald Butts first brought this policy to Ontario. The price of electricity has risen 80% in Ontario in ten years and the deficit has doubled from 150 billion to just over 300 billion since 2003. Gerald Butts now wants the rest of Canada to suffer the same fate. Why would anybody expect a different result?

                              i do not think ontario is screwed with their hydro power . if that is what you meant.
                              because manitoba , which is pretty much all hydro , has the cheapest power in the country.
                              look at the provincial costs. man. 1000 kw 84 $/ month

                              sask.is only 15$ a month lower than Ontario ( the highest) at 145 $ vs 160$ for Ontario per 1000 kw / month. most other provinces are just below sask. . except bc which is fairly reasonable

                              if we are burning cheap coal here and our costs are that high .
                              we are in trouble either way.
                              with nat gas as cheap as it is now i really can not see a reason for the 5% rate hike they got.

                              sorry guys but science has served us pretty well so far.
                              deny it if you like, and a warmer wetter climate has been more of a blessing than a curse.
                              at least here. i know too wet is bad too

                              that may not be what other parts of the world get. flooding if the poles melt,
                              drought heat in India, stuff like that.

                              i do not like what they are saying either, because it will cost us money.
                              a lot of folks around the globe believe a whole lot of religious crap with out one shred of evidence .

                              yet the same people want to ignore , science (hopefully that is what it is)
                              of global warming .

                              i guess it don't matter after we are dead. anyway
                              party on , dude at least as long as we are around,

                              maybe i am totally nuts, but would it be so bad to give some credence to the science.
                              and hedge our bets.

                              we do not know .period . put it this way . would you rather have Sarah Palin in control of the planet or
                              Steven Hawking
