It's getting absolutely outta control and this newer machinery seems to be the worst. Simple hydraulic remote switch in the cab $1000 and that just one example. It's to the point you can't even fix this electrical stuff without a lab top and a service call. Also when you do it's more of a farmer paid educational lesson for the tech and dealership. Of course all these Taj Mahal's built across the prairies in the last few years need to be paid for.

As we are all farmers. We don't need to grab parts from dentists style buildings. A simple building will do

When it comes to certain stuff that serves both Ag and Industrial needs....the increase in industrial activity....bypass building, etc., I think is also driving up the prices. I can't pass it on though! Damn stimulous! A forced "economy"....government mentality....if it can't make it on it's own we'll force it! I hope they don't forget about the guys who are in tough shape because of a horrible harvest! Maybe they'll apply the Liberal philosophy to your farm's budget.....your budget will balance itself. Don't worry about the income and expense statement or your balance sheet.....let the bank worry about that!

Don't worry....be happy. Holiday in Jamaica.

Does anyone know what the true markup normally is on parts? Always wonder....or are the manufacturers putting most of in their pocket?

Just a question. I have no idea...

If it's the dealer...couldnt a guy make a hell of a businesses making say half as much as dealers do and correcting the market on parts?

Long shot but have always thought of it.

I mean as farmers were talking about building new producer own terminals, fertilizer plants etc in a marketplace that big already..why not a producer owned Costco style parts store. Get it set up for online shopping an shipping etc.

Probably would never work but a thought anyway.

So do you not want to achieve as high a price as possible for your canola or grain when you sell? Do you believe in the "free market" or not?

Farmholic- in the future you might want to try Erik's. They bought out Goodall.

They shocked me with their pricing this winter and were half the price of Greenline for heat transfer hose. (Greenline is usually one of the cheaper places).
They seem to be able to source all types of rubber parts, valves, plumbing parts, etc.
