There was a terrific lentil crop in northern Sask.
The new cash rent is well over $125. 00 per acre now. Good times.

That northern Sask lentil crop might make good bales next year. Been there done that before

So you suggest collecting full payment up front? At $148.00/acre half payment is $74.00/acre . There are lots of sprays and fungicides to grow a big crop of lentils these days. Its a good fit for the "poor" land. Plus Nitrogen fixation for the following canola crop.

Not suggesting anything , just speaking from experience from what can happen.
The lentil crop in this area and north was very good in general this year.

New rotation, canola, lentils, canola. Make nothing but money, rent more land, pay accordingly. Good times .

The wheels are spinning in some guys heads for sure.
Cash flow in King for a lot over farms now. That and input suppliers pushing pre buy up to a year ahead (the May fert push this past spring for 2017) in order to gauretee low price and supply is part of the whole thing as well. Add in a 50% increase in land and machinery the past 5 years and voila.... unthinkable rotations are now happening - cash flow .
