Sometimes it useful to repeat a message in lamnan's term to better convey what is meant

Take your plus or minus 500 HP Case or New Holland you need a replacement engine as the old one failed. If it happened to have a Cummins diesel it sets you back 40,000...whilst the Iveco power plant won't get that tractor out of the shop for 100 grand

A 7 cylinder diesel in a tractor or combine might seem odd, but they are in European and increasing ly the newest North American equipment. Of course the machinery is the latest emissions compliant. You don't buy them without it and I assure you that the integrated computer system (Canbus) goes to some extreme to see that it never will be used otherwise.

In fact along with the Auto Steer and Auto Command are two EDF ports (Eletronic Data Transfer); Its not unlikely that computer is connected directly to worldwide satellites and your dealer knows where you are; how to get to your location; how hard the machine is working what your oil pressure is; when it was last changed and everything any expert operator should monitor. The modem is likely under the buddy seat; and the wiring will be there even if you're missing the subscription and dealer is still learning about what he has been forced to adapt to.

He can diagnose (using proprietory software to tell whats wrong); control your horsepower or turn you of; immobilize the machine or maybe repair it; and potentially anyone in the future; could have it remotely driven it back to the dealers in the middle of the night because you certainly don't own the software that makes it function and quite likely you haven't even made full payment on the tires and steel they "sold" you.

Its all available and that why 500,000 price tag shouldn't be shocking...maybe even worth it, but not meant for "average" farmer.
