Burnt Yes I have heard of market forces, just never seen them unless you cryers are useing them to justify those poor hard dun by oil workers that only make 6 figures setting in a company owned pickup pulling thier puds , and those other poor exs sitting in houston drinking hiballs dreaming up the next round of price goudging to fill the pockets of the share holders. If I had my choise of tax or overinflated pay envelopes I would pick the tax, that , I may have a better chance of getting some value from.as a member of the public.

But somehow you failed to explain how a carbon tax is going to return value to you as a member of the public.
Waiting.

Time will tell if the $50.00 carbon tax adds 75.00 dollars per ton to nitrogen fertilizer prices as the local supplier claims.
And since Christmas week the pump prices went up twice with 6 cent a liter bumps; then the latest 3 cents a couple days ago.
In the USA it gained 6 cents US a gallon during the first two increase periods.
Big difference. And it looks like eveyrbody pays the tax on natural gas; nobody mentions carbon "credits" sequestration etc and the die has pretty much been cast........
Airheads in charge

A little perspective on the carbon tax relative to overall fuel prices....says grassy. (Opening thread contribution)
I detect that there is no inclusion of the actual "fuel price" in the "overall fuel price"
Do you price beef accordingly. You're one of next target by the same yuppie airheads. We''ll mandate using your cow feed as biomass inputs for free energy
