i know most of you guys know who to blame for everything.

but are were we reading the same news articles .

the one i read said that the last time the licence was reviewed,
8-10 years ago, that there were warnings , submissions from the sierra club and other environmental
groups that the dam was not safe and needed work .

these submissions were dismissed by the regulatory body.

so the wacko lefties seem to have been right. all along.

and who was in power in state govt. at that time.
i do not know. could have even been arnold

my question is , how does this turn into a liberal bash thread ?

What really amazes me is the same ones complaining about the failing infrastructure are the ones demanding a balanced budget and that taxes are too high. Guess what, there is no money for infrastructure repairs if a government cannot borrow or raise taxes. Oh, I know the response will be to cut some programs that various people don't like, but for every program you don't like there are others that do like it. You better be prepared to give up all the government funding going to agriculture first if you demand cuts because with 2% of the population, we are the easiest target. But of course the critics on here won't or don't even realize the amount of government funding ag still gets.

And to praise Trump that he will do something about infrastructure given his pledge of a trillion dollars to infrastructure when he and his congress are still promising to cut taxes is absurd. Unless of course he will just print the money.

Oh, and don't forget, his biggest spending priority is still a useless 22 billion dollar wall.

Well, SK3 if it is so simple I challenge you to tell us exactly what you would cut. If it is so simple, give us a list of the "feel good projects" you feel should be defunded and how much each would save. Should not be to difficult if you go to the Public Accounts to find what is spent on each program.

And to make it even simpler, forget the US and just tell us what is to be defunded in Canada. Remember Canada looks to have a 30 billion dollar deficit this year so please, just find 30 billion in savings that the feds are now spending and lets put that 30 billion into our crumbling infrastructure. I am not even asking for a balanced budget.

If it is so simple, you should have no problem in finding just 30 billion in savings in federal government spending. Or are you simply all talk?

Some of you should remember that in 2011 Rafferty was close to overflowing and possibly failing due to heavy rain in June after a wet spring. The flood gates were opened and a wall of water took out bridges, farms, towns, and 4500 buildings in Minot. Americans blamed Saskatchewan for the flood.

Obviously it was Brad Walls fault because he is a Conservative Premier. LOL

SF3 I would start by cutting ag subsidies to large farms like yours because you don't need to be propped up by hard working canadian's taxes. You might have to take a few less vacations!

                  Ok it's real easy.

Money for gay rights parades etc. They are just like all the other people of Canada if they want a parade pay for it themselves. We're all Canadians doesn't matter what you are or believe that's your belief don't push on others.

Quit bringing in people from all over the world look after Canadians first.

                  Stop bailouts of bombardier

Quit traveling the world on tax payers dime.

Quit sending delegates to useless climate change meetings.

Cut out equalization and make provinces finance their own dream feel good programs.

Drop all subsidies to green energy if it's not worth it why subsidize.

Cut Pms wage and all politicians.

Cut retirement gold plated programs for all in Ottawa.

Cut all departments budgets. Don't make it the norm to use your entire budget so you get more next year.

Drop and have a hard look at Medicare.

                  Drop the CBC.

Welfare cut if flunk drug test, or if do flunk and don't take programs to help then loose benefits.

Look at civil servants lots of useless positions that are just paper shufflers.

Look at basis and let all other programs die.

Cold hard fact USA and now Canada should worry more about their country and their people first.

Money in account if I put it and it's matched.

Ah Ag stability doesn't do shit all.

Crop insurance was designed to make money for the gov.

So again chucks you non farmer explain.

first place to fix. c.r.a. estimated as much as or more than 50 billion in taxes not paid or pursued for. offshore tax havens, tax cheats etc. the biggest reason lack of funding to c.r.a. dept. or is it lack of will. probably the latter. recommended read the merger.

Other than Supply Management Canadian ag does not get as many subsidies as some other countries.

But the subsidies that we get often go to large farms that don't need it. And if you are oppossed to excessive government spending should not subsidies to large farms that do not need it be on the list?

Ag Invest - matching deposit matching 1% of allowable net sales Max is $15000 per year.
Crop Insurance Premiums - 1/2 paid by farmers and other 1/2 by Federal and Prov. Government.
AgriStability - not likely to pay out much now, but did pay out well for some farms prior to the changes by Harper.

In Saskatchewan - .12 cents per litre tax off farm fuel,

Over the years - Western Grain Stabilization, , Numerous Ad Hoc emergency programs that paid out based on acreage, GRIP, Interest Free Loans from Grant Devine etc.

Agriculture is indeed subsidized for various reasons. Some of it is good policy some of it is for political reasons.

Lots of farmers farmed the programs to get more payouts.

There should have been action taken before the flooding in 2011. A good part of Roche Percee was destroyed, not to mention Minot. You gotta wonder who was in charge and why heads didn't roll. Those water levels should have been monitored months before and the Rafferty levels lowered. Similar situation this year. Lots of rain and snow out west of us, hope they are smarter. The province doesn't need another disaster like that. I don't Brad Wall moniters the water but Sask Water is supposed to, but then aren't they the brainiaks who allow communities to pump raw sewage into the creeks that feed Wascana?
