If you took the amount of money this immigration wave costs and use it to buy Canadian grain and ensure it gets to the starving as aid....we would all be better off.

Grain wouldn't help. They just steal it and trade it on the international market for guns and gold for the elites.
Guns for the poor would help, along with soldiers to show them how and a few bombs dropped on their "leaders"

And who's going to ensure the starving get the grain, UN soldiers or Canadian soldiers ? How much does that cost, maybe some soldiers lives? Are you saying nobody can come from any of there countries with out proper vetting? Do you honesty blame people for wanting to get out of those hell holes, I know if I were in their stituation and had an education, Canada would be my first choice!

Safe camps created, operated and maintained by our countries would be far more effective than throwing money away to be used to buy arms and don't forget our multi-million dollar government donations to "charatible" foundations. Along with food, planned parenthood centers would help the poor to plan their families. IMHO

Who's going to pay for this, and supply the military backing? NATO or the UN who are vastly underfunded. In other word where does the money come from to do this? What about logistics, it's hard enough for grain to move properly in Canada let alone in a 3rd world country. Do you have convoys of military accompanying every train or truck moving to these camps?

Again intentions are good, but very hard and expensive to do with corrupt governments in power in those countries!!

Yep, forage, I believe you are correct, but we can't take them all into our country and we can't fix every country's problems at home so maybe we can try this.

As for money, I don't know how much but a lot is donated by us and government only to never get to the need. Better to try the safe camp, where we personally control who gets it. Just saying as the starvation problem is not getting solved effectively now.

The fed govt doesn't send food aid any more. They send cash so the NGO (non govt organizations) can buy more grain cheaper and closer to home improving local economy there.

The reason Canada has such a good reputation abroad is primarily due to the Canadian Wheat board, quality cheap for the hungry. They had massive promotion, feel good campaigns.

The world child mortality rate has been reduced by half since 1990. Though there is still a long ways to go, I would say things are improving.
