Fert Banding question

Usually single shoot with Flexi 5000 with atom jet side band granular tips. Put all fert in side band as granular. After the wet fall going to need some cultivation before seeding. About as cheap to buy an air seeder as an cultivator. Was thinking about banding the blend while cultivating the land. One advantage imo is getting the fert in a little deeper than when single pass. Also could fill 2 tanks on cart with seed instead of one. More acres per fill. Also get the fert band farther from seed less negative affect on germ. Disadvantage will take more time and more difficult to fix ruts. Is this a crazy idea?

Do you still have a harrow packer or land roller to re pack the land?

You will want some phosphate in the seed row. That will use a tank on air drill. Nitrogen would be OK, no different than NH3 guys?

We never put anything with seed . Tried many test strips with starter fert and have never saw any diff ? Maybe our atom jet side band tip has phos close enough ?.. were going to put some juice down on rut levelling tillage if ruts arent to bad

No fertilizer ever in seed row here. Phos is close enough. Have seen zero difference. If your blasting fert with your canola seed you truly need to keep drinking the kook aid. Band up to 425 Ibs with the seed twin with no burn and no adverse effects on germ.

We are wet 90% of the time. 90% we fall band with spikes, all N and S. Drying out the land .
Heavy harrow and seed in spring, only Phos and a bit of ESN with seed, on a 3" opener.
Nice and level, trash spread, less compaction after winter. Unfortunately will spring band this year.

Haven't put fert. through the drill in 12 years. All broadcast. I'm happy with it.

That is the low end. I didnt want to insult the hard done by.
You need to spend right, so you have to invest the most in a very efficient sprayer. It is the most important tool on the farm .
You dont want a piece of shit sprayer because timing is everything.
