Buyers of Flax close to Saskatoon

I have to pick up a load of pea seed this week in the Saskatoon area.

I have a load of flax I would like to sell to get a hopper bin empty to make room for more seed that has to be picked up.

No one is buying flax locally in our area
Just wondering if anyone knows of a buyer in the Saskatoon area buying flax at this time. Trying to work in the delivery with my seed pickup.

    Thanks

I think current bids slipped from earlier prices.

Jag...from where you live to Sktoon, surely there has to be somewhere you can dump it. Would be nice to find someone who actually wants it versus someone who will "take" it. Words can mean more than one thing!!!! Good luck.

            Thanks for the info

I will make some calls today

We are located at Prelate, Sask
Most of our flax is sold for seed production. We have sold our comercial flax to P&H in Medicine Hat before and to Viterra in Moose Jaw. No flax buyers closer to us that I know of.

We only have about 550 bu left that is in a 4000 bu hopper bin. When we clean our flax for seed production good flax goes into the screenings then I reclean the screenings for comercial sales .
Need to get some hopper bins empty as we have quite a few different seed lots to pick up before seeding and very few empty hopper bins

Occasionally Richardson at Reed lake near herbert buys flax. Thinking that's closer than moose jaw and they are usually a better price.

Does anyone think that shipping grain west of swift current to load in moose jaw only to go back west to port is not a problem?

Grain cos and railways have to do a better job of coordinating grain movement?

Cars shorted at local and have sat for 4 plus days loaded.

Who tells RR what cars to pull and when that grain is needed at port?

Every elevator should be allotted or own their spot available cars....

112 cars should be sitting loaded with grain ready for a boat .....I call it dynamic storage.....ready to go at a moments notice....

Would add 10000 tonnes capacity to every prairie terminal.

When the loaded cars are picked up empties are dropped off.

                      Loads with what though ?

Sales happen. Having 110 cars of wheat sitting there when a order for peas comes in...

Think (hope) they have better logistics than that. Right now there is about 26 ships waiting at port. I would think the grain co's know what to put in them.

Surely when an elev empties a bin they know what they are going to refill it with for next shipment. They have contracts with farmers. Maybe that is the issue nobody in the whole system has a clue what is going on.

The only time there would be a problem is when elev ship wrong grade or commodity. Maybe happens more than we know. Grain is graded different at each elev when we deliver maybe same is happening when they ship.

The only reason there is 2.5 mmt of floating space is because demurrage is not costing them a whole bunch.

As far as a sale showing up ....that would be great then the full cars would get pulled....they would load them for their sales....

And as far as I am concerned the system in place now is a cluster****.....no reporting...no spot deliveries which completely ****s up your futures. ......

What grain is that 2.5 mmt waiting for?

Usually around 50,000 tonnes per ship

Richardson at Reed Lake may do immediate. They just shipped some out last week. Check with Ilta in Swift, as well as ETG Commodities. Can get you some numbers if needed.
