We pulled the crankcase vent out of the filter and plugged the hole in the plate. A world of difference.
Another question are all your Kohlers, 999 CC, having terrible governor responses? This one dies when any load is applied, unless full throttle.

Running a 27HP EFI Subaru on an 8" auger. Thought the Electronic Fuel Injection was going to solve the whole cold weather starting problem... Its absolutely impossible to start once its below -25C without throwing heat at it. If it doesnt catch on the first attempt it floods its sorry ass, and with an electric lift pump constantly priming itself, and injectors pouring the fuel into it with no ability to adjust the fuel flow or the choke level its hopeless. Only upside is i've NEVER had to throw alcohol into the gas tank.
Only thing I've found that works as a preventative measure is a 100W trouble light sitting up against the block and an old canvas tarp to horde it in. If its REALLY cold, and it floods itself, the only way to get er going is to push a kerosene heater up the ass end and let it buck till everything is about the same temperature as it would be in July.
Anyone ever stumbled across heater elements that go into the un-used oil drain plug? I've seen them advertised as "cold weather kits" online for some gas generators, but have never seen them on shelves anywhere.
