The black sea region has been getting into ****seed production the last few years. Problem is the oil from it is only used for industrial purposes where a lot of the canola crush in Canada is for human consumption. Soybeans are the same the oil is primarily used in industrial while some of it does go for consumption it's a smaller piece. They most often are crushed for the meal as it is a huge piece of hog diets.


China has recently built several brand new crush plants all along the coast that have the capacity to switch between canola and soybeans. This is a fairly new thing and the increase and demand for these plants is partially why bean prices held strong for most of the year.
