A good article by 2 University of Alberta Immigration experts challenging misconceptions around immigrants and refugees.

One important quote from the article:

"...One result of this extreme vetting is that refugees—as with most immigrants to Canada—commit less crime on average than those already here."

Hm grass my family came from Germany on one side and Ukraine on other and we're sent to carve a life out in canada not given the good land in Indian head or regina but sent to the trees! Funny they learnt English and borrowed from neighbours and began to fit in and carve out a great life then when the English sold and quit farming the good land they moved south and bought them out. Circle of life.

So my point every one is welcome just quit the open door policy where you walk across a border and your in, your fleeing from the USA. Ah wtf is all I can say.

Every one who follows the rules is welcome adapt to the Canadian way, English and French are our two official languages work and be part of canada .

No first in line for university or worry about immigration over our own poor.

Just walk across a border. Try that in Korea or china or Russia or USA you get a one way ticket home jail or you just disappear but a genius like you knows that you just want to argue!'

Speaking of the walking across the border issue, I had a neighbor that spent the winter in the lower mainland BC, told me that Sihks and Muslims in Vancouver have been having some big turf wars. Supposedly the Osoyoos border crossing has been having Sihks crossing into US and claiming refugee status for religious persecution in Vancouver. One of the border agents was complaining there is no media coverage about that like there is on the ones coming this week?

Anyone else here anything about that?

As I said in another thread that this same guy started. There is a large difference between Immigration and migration.

Definitions:
Immigration - "the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country"
Migration - "the movement of persons from one country or locality to another"
Not that large a difference mcfarms. What was your point?

What is really astounding is the number of people that don't know the difference between a refugee and an immigrant. Again, definition: Refugee - "someone who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution or natural disaster"

Apparently Trump had no clue about this either as Angela Merkel had to explain to him the rules of the Geneva Convention with regard to refugees which can be summed up that "the refugee convention requires the international community to take in war refugees on humanitarian grounds. All signatory states are obligated to do". As a signatory to the Geneva Convention the USA has no right to refuse access to refugees. But I guess Donnie will just announce that America got a "bad deal" in the Geneva Convention and wants to renegotiate it LOL.

Interesting that you bring up Sweden wakopa - for some facts let's head to the Government of Sweden official website page entitled "Facts about migration and crime in Sweden"

A critical extract from it for the skimmers is this revelation - "The studies show that the majority of those suspected of crimes were born in Sweden to two Swedish-born parents. The studies also show that the vast majority of people from foreign backgrounds are not suspected of any crimes."

In other words the same finding as the University of Alberta study. That's why the source of facts is important wakopa because if you believe braying buffoons like Ezra Levant or Alex Jones instead you are dealing with fantasy which they are using to whip up a hysteria of division and hatred.

Why even have an immigration guy at the airport? Wtf am I white or something? Why are they racist against me? Two sets of rules, one for taxpayers and one for outsiders. Just close the doors on the immigration department. Commie bastards!

Go back and read the Alberta article I posted first under "Vetting and values" and you will see there is a strict protocol in place - which is working.

Quite a difference you immigrated following accepted protocols and came because you were pulled to come to Canada, whereas what is occurring in spots now is migration these people are being pushed into Canada by fear of changes in US policy. put Obama back in and they would be gone back south tommorrow in the meantime they will be here as refugees from a country that posed no threat to them as long as they came in legally in the first place.
Usually when a large scale migration has taken place throughout human history its led to conflict with the indigenous population, who in most cases migrated at some point before.
