The provincial government just didn't collect the royalties on oil and potash that could easily have been paid when there were gobs of money being made.

Perhaps an opportunity fully squandered.

Same problem as Alberta.

The 5% on education tax is that on the calculated amount or is that on the big amount in the new assessments? Because holy cow that will be large if it's on the total new assesments.

That's no bull farma this will put alot of farms under. I can't wait. Might need to use the spare seeding outfit. No problem lots of Mexicans and other border crossers wanting work.

And even the gas rebate. with farms spread out and less businesses near you this is also a major cost.

I don't fully know the financial impact of the Provincial budget will have on me. More school tax on farmland. Full excise tax on gas and 20% of diesel(?) on bulk purchases. 1% increase in PST. PST on insurance premiums (?)....ouch! Restaurant meals and ready to eat meals and junk food(little impact on us except for some restaurant meals)These will be the direct out of pocket hits. Did I miss any that I'm not aware of.... machinery, inputs, parts? Then there could be the indirect or hidden affects of the budget.

I too think they could have left the income tax rate where it was.

The ****ing shell game of whats the extra being paid versus whats being saved and will it cost me more or less in the end.

Kinda glad they axed the gas tax bs. No more fuel rebate form to fill out anymore unless we now have to for diesel

The gas tax thing was maybe more important 25 years ago but today, not significant. This will clean up the abuse of the tax free gas used for everything but business

Not an extra cost to me at all. Always filled up at pumps for personal use anyway. At least now I can fill up at home all the time.

Richard: Perhaps your analysis is way way off. I don't know one grain or livestock farmer that isn't dependent on diesel fuel. Now that all dyed diesel is subject to an extra 20% of 15 cents a liter of additional tax; the form for fuel tax exemption in Sask is still important; so just why wouldn't that paperwork still be important or else you might as well be filling allall your diesel at the pumps.

Hardly not an extra cost at all....not significant if 3 cents of additional tax isn't important and pennies don't count. What about PST (at 6% now) on insurance premiums. Maybe even crop insurance I would think. Should have been watching the provincial budget rather than the preempted head in the sand federal budget.

Not that anyone had much choice and some tv channels cut away from the live Federal minister's speech literally as soon as he began talking. An example of an analysis before "anything" had happened. Without a radio it would have been difficult to know there even was a provincial budget in real time.

I don't know boys I just renewed my membership both federally with the conservatives and just now for Brad.

If any of you believe the NDP or the liberals would of done better I tell you hey would of done shit all. Make you feel good it's just debt till you wake up one day and realize your Alberta with no way back.

You must be pretty disappointed though..... Cut income tax for everyone and shift it to farmers through PST on fuel and increase in land taxes.

As far as the feds go leadership race is a bit of a joke? I carry the card too not sure who to vote for.

Good day to everybody. Well as everybody on this site is well aware of , the budget has been "stuck to us", for lack of a better description that is loaded with curse words! To me , this is pretty much the best way our Premier could hand Saskatchewan back to the NDP. What better way to piss off the people that vote for you than to tax them some more! Now I am sure there are some stalwart NDP loving farmers out there in this province, which baffles me because the ND'ers support unions and organized labour, but anyhow , Brad feels that the farmers should pay some more. What about maybe the gross overspending we have in our RM system? Almost 300 RM's in this province , and that could easily be cut by 2/3 to do the same job. In my local RM , you have councillors charging $$$$ (lots of it) to be accountable for basically nothing , because it is an old boys club , led by a reeve with an agenda. Most of you guys and gals out there know that this is a common practice.

Sorry for my rant , but to me this is one area where cuts could have been made, and it wasn't. Federally , well what do you say? Isn't anybody out there in Agriville tired of 1/3 of the people in this country paying 3/3 of the bills? You don't have to be a whiz kid to figure out who the other 2/3 of these people are either. We pay every F***ing day , and it's going to get worse before it gets better! Oh , if a government only had the balls to say , " we can't pay you anymore " !

Oh , and another little tidbit we all should be aware of : $317 billion of debt in Ontario , and $181 billion of debt in Quebec. Total debt for the country is estimated at about $651 billion. Just think if the western provinces could say that we aren't going to pay transfer payments any more. 77% of the country's debt is in two provinces.
