20 million starving in Africa and there is no market? Canada could have paid farmers here 120 million for grain and called it aid. .....instead of writing cheques to other nations farmers and dictators......

Wow this is what I have been saying! Instead of the feds throwing hundreds of millions away on "aid" why not buy the grain from farmers who will re invest that money into the economy, then give the grain to Africa for example as aid. Can anyone see what the problem is with this??? It wouldn't be looked at as a subsidy either because there is a product being sold.

If you want to do that sign up as a vendor for WFP

International conventions govern food aid. You can just show up with a ship of lentils and go here ya go in a foreign country.

No that's Trudeau's responsibility. ...he is the guy writing out the cheques.....not me.

You would think most country's head of state would ensure his own people get paid first rather than buying food aid from somewhere else.

Trudeau sent 120 million recently to 4 African nations. ...a complete waste...

International conventions designate organizations that can provide food aid.

Further, those conventions also lay out the manner in which these organizations can procure food aid... I.e. first from within the country then regionally then continentally and finally globally.

Every country gives aid the same way Canada does because thanks to international agreements all our countries signed that's what they have to do.

Why then does USA have food aid tenders posted pretty regularly? We have sold lower-grade lentils into them from time to time.

In 8 of the 9 countries, they don't call it US AID
they call it U S A I D and spell it out so it doesn't sound like AID
the grain bags are ambiguous for a reason...

The reason they don't give our grain to the starving is because those with money would have to pay more for food and wouldn't then be able to pay 90,000 for a SUV or 1,00000 for a house or go on trips. And of course we d be paid a little more closely to proper. End of story.
