If you really are meeting JT for what it's worth here are some things to bring up.

    1. Crop insurance as well as the ag programs are out dated and there is a culture of not serving the farmer customers increasing. And since the federal gov contributes a great deal to
The program perhaps not getting enough credit for doing so but the programs are ineffective in many cases. Many people are losing lots to over winter crops due to the stupidity of the programs.

    2. Do something with the lending for farmers. FCC and the rest have gone astray only for the buklshitters. How about helping out farms that have built their communities instead of millionaires from god knows where.
I ve taken over thousand s of acres and know some of the stories it shouldn't be. I don't need to be this size but they like it this way trust me I get deals the every day family farm doesn't. I used to be that way and struggled day to day. It's not right how farm families are treated.

3.How about a separate track for ag products?

    4.Don't lose the capital gains

5.Don't allow companies to take over the seed industry and put guys in jail. No one should own seed rights period. There is plenty of money to be made by improving on seeds year to year. Open up chemicals cheaper from USA etc.

Thanx guys, I put your ideas down on paper, added a few like fix the Bethune Radar, put CGC Commissioners back, enforce the correct wheat grading with monetary penalties for grain buyers, revive AgriStability. Pay us for our sequestration if you really believe the carbon B.S.

Its funny how these are exactly the things that need to be voiced but never mentioned anywhere but here on a farmer group, I'm sure the trolls read it but thats where it stops.
Where are our farmer groups? Our ag reporters? The news highlighted is mostly meant to deflect from the real negative issues we are faced with. I was talking to a financial rep yesterday who said things are the worst he's seen in his 18 years in the business.
Are things gone to far or can we take control back of OUR industry?

I have been advocating for for what you are talking about. The Grain Act has rules and monetary penalties in it. The problem is no one is monitoring or enforcing them anymore. The loss of Sec 9 of the Act was the biggest mistake that was ever made. It should have been expanded on not repealed. IMHO Modernization of Grain Act was all about making CGC money. I guess it did work.

Much as farmers don't like the taste of it, we need Western farmers running for the Liberal Party. Representation has never been more important. Just level-headed smart people would be a huge asset for any party and ultimately any country.

SDG.... Most qualified people are too busy managing their own successful businesses! So we end up with some who are self serving, successful and want to be on the take, or others who have degrees in welfare (Arts and Social Sciences) with little common sense or a level head.

I guess I'm a little(more than usual) judgemental and critical today.
