One year ago we started today!

One year ago we were rolling on peas. Funny how a year later things change. Last spring was a awesome first few weeks to seed. It was dry it was warm and wow what perfect seeding conditions. But then the wheels fell off on May long with rain and it never stopped till late October and then harvest continued well into November.

Yes each year is different and each area is different but nice to see some people going just wish for once it was us with the good conditions. South of the Valley some actually have 40% done. Top of the valley on north side some starting. Others areas just sitting in mud from snow or rain.

Yesterday we had rain on and off all day and finally a dump again to end the day.

Oh well at least the weekend looks good for plant 17 to start. Lots have been out playing with harrow on fields they thought were dry. Some buried tractors way bad.

So what are others seeing for your area and how is plant 17 going.

we made it through the whole month of april to the last day with 3 tenths and 1 " snow . now it rained Sunday night and all day yesterday . ruts and sloughs were pretty much dry , now the water is back . pretty frustrating

Like I said 15 to 20 miles strait south one guy is 40% done. and it didn't rain yesterday.

Oh well maybe well get a break in the weather soon.

Maybe it is? predicting only being 4 days later starting than the "awesome, perfect seeding conditions" you had last year is a hell of a lot better than the guys that are days or weeks off starting to harvest last year's crop first.

25 Degrees with a brisk south wind for two days and evrryone around here will be going. Lentils will be sprouting in the grain tank. LOL

Ah grass you must be able to spell but can't read. I always said seeding last year was a 10 tiLl the may long then the wheels fell off.

For slow people that is nice weather for part of seeding then the rain storms came and continued all way till fall.

I can spell, read and use logic SF3. You're potentially only 4 days behind your awesome, perfect 10 seeding conditions/start date of last year. Most would therefor consider you to be in good shape compared to those weeks away from starting to harvest last years crop.

N of Wadena, soggy water filled dips, cold soil, FROST at 2', looks dismal...but two low humidity warm windy weeks and everyone will be rolling at any cost. 2016 Harrowed May 4, Seeded may 7-May 21, perfect weather.

SF3 - I keep looking at that pic of your airseeder and that great big shiny new tractor. I guess things are getting pretty grim around your place. Anyway, good luck everyone in 17 despite what it may look like today.

She's gonna be a great year if we can get our seed in the ground beginning of May. Get ready to give er SF3, even if you have to do it with a tractor that turned green.

Seeding well underway this week in the red river valley. Corn and cereals going down, some starting canola. Beans next week. Chance of light showers tonite, and then dry for next several days. Excellent germination conditions, early seeded canola could be a big risk this year, as a frost later in may seems likely given conditions this spring.

I am able to plow sod now, but it is mucky, water in furrow in places. Will be able to start the spring harvest in another warm day or two at least on the high ground. might give up on waiting for wildlife damage assessment they are in no hurry. Still Frost Right to the surface in the lower ground where I was trying to drain some water. Still a few winter drifts remaining in shade.

Some yrs seeded early and was cool most of the summer and it took forever to mature.
