Observation, and not trying to rub anyone the wrong way...shallow hay sloughs on our land weren't brim full this spring and the water has since dropped dramatically in them. Won't be much hay in them unless it rains a pile. In my travels I still see sloughs full past their usual bounaries...kinda obvious when the poplars AND willows are dead in the water.

Should be going but doing some heavy harrowing while its nice and hot. Maybe start sunday or monday. Trying to get some fields prepped so we dont have to stop mid seeding to do it. Lots of moisture for now but this strong warm wind will suck it up quick.

Got rolling today , one drill on peas the other on wheat. Conditions are good just a few wet spots here. Hopefully a good day tomorrow before the rain on Sunday/ Monday. Got some first day bugs out

Dad tried picking some straw bales out of a stubble field yesterday and was unsuccessful. The hilltops weren't too bad but the south facing slopes required the mfwd to be engaged and wherever there is a water run forget it. This field usually burns up in July since it's all steep south facing slopes. No point in looking anywhere else and it's looking like 2 weeks away for sure. Got some showers today with more coming tonight. Haven't even looked at the drill and lacking time and ambition to do so anyways. Still have combining on some lower ground to do and thinking it'll be next month for that..... best case scenario. Maybe just summerfallow it all and get ahead of the game for next year. Would that mean we are way behind or way ahead????

Durum and Lentils are in, all rolled. Now 3/4 of "precious wheat" will be done tonight. We hope to get a few acres of small seeds in before the rain. If it doesn't rain, most everything around us will be seeded this week. Conditions couldn't be better, touch wood. With such an early start, In a dry year, we could be combining in July.

Our barley is already up. See the rows in a week.
We can't find a field dry enough for intended wheat so have put in some canola. Hope the wheat goes soon.
Those fields are like floating soil on an ocean. If we ever break through we might need the Coast Guard.

Got going today I would say a little wet yet!
Ours SAFELY in the yard... a good earth shaking thunderstorm with NO RAIN would help...

Should make a nice pea field with those ruts. Same ****ing problem here frost boils fields are soft on hill sides. some fields good that are normally spongy and other ones that are normally dry are soft and we are sinking on the hillsides. Strange year.
Those 6550s without duals are useless. you need a 6700 or 7700 and fill it 3/4 full then you would be going. Oh and also a quad trac.

Ha Fjlip. You see it's climate change that's made the difference. Plus Hutterites, over zealous Germans spending Mama's money, and Mennonites that descended from conscientious objectors jacking land prices.
