Not being sarcastic. Trump did an interview with AP last week, and it's been posted on line in print form. They're calling it word salad. Much is incomprehensible. Subject changing two and three times within a single sentence. If you can even find a full sentence. On paper it looks like something you'd hear at the bar just before closing time. We would have to elect a five year old to even begin to compete with that. Seriously, I see speech patterns in that interview that sound just like a good friend of mine who had Alzheimers. Do some research . It's scarey that this man has the codes.

Trump's hatred of China is well known but never fear the family can still cash in. Check out the Kushner Companies current tour of China where they are essentially selling immigration visas in return for investment in their New Jersey real estate. Really draining the swamp - NOT!

And this gem from Plato (born in the 400's BC regarded as the first philosopher) on how tyrants rise in “late-stage democracyâ€:
“He is usually of the elite but has a nature in tune with the time — given over to random pleasures and whims, feasting on plenty of food and sex, and reveling in the nonjudgment that is democracy’s civil religion. He makes his move by ‘taking over a particularly obedient mob’ and attacking his wealthy peers as corrupt. If not stopped quickly, his appetite for attacking the rich on behalf of the people swells further. He is a traitor to his class — and soon, his elite enemies, shorn of popular legitimacy, find a way to appease him or are forced to flee. Eventually, he stands alone, promising to cut through the paralysis of democratic incoherence. It’s as if he were offering the addled, distracted, and self-indulgent citizens a kind of relief from democracy’s endless choices and insecurities. He rides a backlash to excess — ‘too much freedom seems to change into nothing but too much slavery’ — and offers himself as the personified answer to the internal conflicts of the democratic mess. He pledges, above all, to take on the increasingly despised elites. And as the people thrill to him as a kind of solution, a democracy willingly, even impetuously, repeals itself."
Prophetic huh?

Well Hamloc....if you think Mulroney debt was only a bit compared to Trudeau, take a look at this graph.... https://www.taxpayer.com/media/CoverStory24-27WEB.pdf
Harpers "balanced budget" was questionable in his last year...the 6 previous were deficits and two surplus budgets in his first two years could from the momentum of the Chretien/Turner years..(if Mulroney's deficit was momentum from Trudeau) When we lost the right to have the Bank of Canada finance infrastructure at no interest cost and the Corporate Banks got between, that was when debt really started taking hold....and yes, that was Pierre who brought that in and no other government rescinded or corrected....so I really don't think governments are in charge anyways.
You pointed out that the worst down turns in Alberta's history were when the Trudeau's were in power, however you neglected to remind people that both of those busts happened when world oil prices plummeted...uhmmmm, maybe just a coincidence.
And not that I really care about the Trudeau's ...or Harper, but it shows how this Agriville has turned into a bully board when talking politics, name calling if your not on the right team...it is not about fact, its about "my team is the only one.." a lot of "facts" are forgotten when propping up ones team...Duffy, Peter McKay's helicopter, prorogation, contempt rulings...on and on...but instead lets pick on the selfie king and his looks..really....must be sad when that seems to be the biggest problems some can find. Not that I am a fan of JTs, but, again, time for change. At least this guy is creating a positive image in the world and not locked up in a office and micromanaging.....and yes, he has improved Canada's image world wide, like it or not.
Have a young fellow who I often get into discussions with...was a real Wild Rose fan until they called him for more donations to "beat the NDP". He asked how they would change things....their reply was to get rid of the ND's....he is looking for a new party.....at least he is questioning and thinking.
It boils down to a choice of socialism for the people or socialism for the corporations, and IMHO, the pendulum has to swing back and forth for a balance. None of the parties are the answer, some are just better at certain times.
When Profit Trumps Ethics, its downhill from here.

Perfecho, I did a quick fact check by quickly looking at Canada's 1986 budget paper and the 1990 budget paper online. From 1985 to 1990 Canad's debt increased 150 billion dollars. In that same time frame we payed 120 billion in interest on the accumulated debt. So did Mulroney add to the debt? Absolutely! Having said that his hands were somewhat tied by the size of the accumulated debt and the level of interest rates.
As for the Trudeau's, one brought in the NEP and the other the carbon tax. In my opinion both policies were and are a net negative for western Canada. And yes oil prices certainly contributed to both economic downturns.
As for your bullying assertion, I for the most part try to keep my responses respectfull and I will certainly admit I am biased against left of center policies that advocate for more tax and more government. Having said that I certainly don't agree with government subsidizing business either. Anyway, have a good day and I hope your almost done calving, we are down to 13 left. :-)

Hammy, have found your posts to be respectful and researched...and that is why I like the exchange. Noticed on some "out there" posts, you don't reply.....myself, for some posters I don't even look.
Believe your thoughts that NEP and carbon levies are more of an impact than oil prices, however, I will disagree with......and there is/was a case for both, if handled correctly, but were not.
Doubt we will stop handouts on either side....and a free enterprise system doesn't work when governments pick winners all the time..... and allow breaches in the Competition Act, and to me , that is why the pendulum has to swing. With more exporting of jobs, automation of many jobs, there is going to be more problems with societal issues...and we better be prepared with more than saying "find a job!" or "your lazy"....yes , people have choices, but not all have opportunity....and I was lucky enough to have both......
"So did Mulroney add to the debt? Absolutely! Having said that his hands were somewhat tied by the size of the accumulated debt and the level of interest rates."......So, by same token, you must be giving Rachel some wiggle room....;-)
Calving going well, was off to a sad start during cold wet weather and lazy manager...(me)...but has been going well since. Now I almost feel bad for them when it gets to 25 degrees in a day...quite the swings in temperature...from cooking hot to freezing with in a day...go figure.
Have a good one! Cheers!
