Well finally missed all the rain and wow sure helped out. Ground actually firming up and letting us gain some ground lost as we move north of valley. The weather pattern has changed the storms that show up are fast moving and big wind and dark sky then spit ten to 20 drops dirty my window and are gone. Sort of like the NDP Big wind and in the end do nothing.

We will hit the 81% mark today. But have Grads this weekend so will loose a day. For the area South of the Valley i would say is close to finished. South of town the same. North as you go still going, Some guys this week will finish. The ground is wetter the further north of town you go.

Wheat is starting to poke out of the ground, the Barley is up and nice rows and the peas are up for the most part. Canola just been seeded since the 18 th of may.

Soil moisture conditions are great as of right now but our first rain June first would be just right. I would say were back to normal weather, time will tell but it sure looks like it.

Spraying of Burn off is still taking place, No one has started in crop spraying even the early guys. Some Early Beavers have Canola that froze off and reseeded. But also some realized the top is dry and till a rain frozen plants are better than seed sitting in the ground.

I would say we need four to five more good days to finish. Then on to Finish burn off and peas will be ready for in crop then the barley.

Have a Great week and be safe. The ones at home are way more important than any crop.

If you're still harvesting and haven't seeding I know what your going through. Be especially safe it will work out. Rain makes mud.

    Timely rain makes grain.

We're down to 100 acres of soybeans to go. This field is Star City, RR2 Extend beans. Excited to see how Dicamba will add better weed control. This field should have been our wettest, just because of the number of low spots. Turns out to be our driest. There are no frost boil/springs areas. Really weird.

Canola that was up wasn't harmed by the frost. We seeded quite a bit of canola in early May because those fields were only ones we could travel on. Had to take a chance and keep seeding. No flea beetle pressure yet, but they're here as volunteers and other plants are badly chewed. Canola seed treatment is Visivio and might be "the one".

Frost did burn some barley fields, but barley looks good overall.

Pastures and hayfields stalled out. They need rain.

      Finished seeding yesterday..
Left 8 percent of the farm unseeded because of water..
Fields very lumpy. To wet when we started to fertilize..
Only a bit of rain will fix that.

Don't worry it's just a crop. All that matters is that everything is going sf3's way. Who gives a shit about the guys that will be seeding till June 25th. Ahhhhh farming.

Hoping for a thunder shower lottery win now, until something a little more concrete in a rain forecast materializes..... So far from this last rain event a grand total of 0.09 inches, Oooooo. But it sure smelled good!

Striped flea beetles are here. Company said they will supply insecticide free if I want to app it. Seed treated with regular treatment and Lumiderm! Does that tell me both products are no ****ing good? Frost smoked some canola plants.... completely pinched off, others lost their cotyledons and are struggling to regrow from the growing point(painful to look at and watch), some stranded in dry dirt. Not all was up when frost hit, thank goodness.

Peas got a bit of a "whitish" look to them after the frost, they will recover.

            The cereals(wht) look fine.

Flax is coming up but need to take a closer look to see if I have seed stranded in dry dirt.

Obviously still waiting for a nice rain! Some ground in the area was trading hands yesterday without any money exchanging hands...hurricane winds. Thank goodness I never tilled anything because of the heavy crop residue from the year before. Our lighter stuff likely would have been air-born too! But other than maybe a wee bit of dusting off in the highest wind gusts, everything stayed put!

Tough way to make a living. Risk is insane.

I would say seeding 75% done in the Biggar, south of north Battleford area. 3/4 of a inch last night in Biggar. And some higher totals yesterday from some pretty wild storms.

12 mm here, would have been happy with 6, although the wind is still blowing so we'll likely loose have of it today in evaporation anyway.

I finally got last years faba's combined so the 2016 harvest is over. The field was so soft that I left ruts all over the field. No spring seeding yet and last nights .3 tenths won't help with that project.

This report page sure gives perspective!
                      Here, barley flooded need reseed.
                      (Drill f/up didnt help either)
Canola not in. Hopefully hold a harrows by Sunday and we blow it on.
                      Wheat in but quite soggy.
Peas going to look today. Hope they take water.
Soybean trial still in the bag.

Done with a liquid cart here this year. N&S will be floated or sprayed on now.
Area generally 1/2 to 2/3 done.
But dont look northward. Crop out that will not be dealt with till summer.
Since 02 I still cant dislike rain.
But.... it can be your worst risk I can see that now.

Sk wheat king wtf is wrong with you.

Haven't you realized that this is the first year in say 16 that we actually have a decent seeding experience. Not playing in the mud getting stuck in the half hour not having to leave fields because can't get down main roads or back roads. Having tractors with 600 plus hp not being able to pull full tanks or trading down a size so you can fill it. I hate mud for a reason it is such a curse you can't believe. I still love a good rain but. It every single day for years. So yes some have a interesting spring and fall last year and I really feel for them but I have experienced it for so long you almost can't believe when a normal spring arrives.

Shut down today as a mist is enough to wet our ground and cause issues. We pray in this area that it doesn't keep raining like it use to or come back. Call me after 16 plus years of the wet shit then we can talk.

Yea it is nice why comment at all if you can't say anything good. It's a crop report that was started because in the NDP years it was always rosy nice and great even if farmers were struggling. So yea!
