Well finally missed all the rain and wow sure helped out. Ground actually firming up and letting us gain some ground lost as we move north of valley. The weather pattern has changed the storms that show up are fast moving and big wind and dark sky then spit ten to 20 drops dirty my window and are gone. Sort of like the NDP Big wind and in the end do nothing.
We will hit the 81% mark today. But have Grads this weekend so will loose a day. For the area South of the Valley i would say is close to finished. South of town the same. North as you go still going, Some guys this week will finish. The ground is wetter the further north of town you go.
Wheat is starting to poke out of the ground, the Barley is up and nice rows and the peas are up for the most part. Canola just been seeded since the 18 th of may.
Soil moisture conditions are great as of right now but our first rain June first would be just right. I would say were back to normal weather, time will tell but it sure looks like it.
Spraying of Burn off is still taking place, No one has started in crop spraying even the early guys. Some Early Beavers have Canola that froze off and reseeded. But also some realized the top is dry and till a rain frozen plants are better than seed sitting in the ground.
I would say we need four to five more good days to finish. Then on to Finish burn off and peas will be ready for in crop then the barley.
Have a Great week and be safe. The ones at home are way more important than any crop.
If you're still harvesting and haven't seeding I know what your going through. Be especially safe it will work out. Rain makes mud.
Timely rain makes grain.
