I had a long reply pecked out on my "smart"phone that froze and I lost....**** it...I'm not starting over.....in essence, never have so many lived off the efforts of so few!

    Welfare, give me a break.

At this point there will be no major purchases other than possibly land if that stuff beside me doesn't get taken. A better investment than some piece of shit iron that will wear out and depreciate to basically nothing over time. Anything "machinery" has gotten right out of hand...purchasing new, shop labor, and parts. I will do what I can to not "subsidize" those new Palaces filled with do nothings.

How about those "Made in Canada" world prices for Urea...about $100/tonne higher than last fall/early winter. I think at a time NOLA urea was cheap...spring happy hour!

How about those fuel/gas prices compared to when a barrel of oil was $140.....oil is much less than half now...why aren't fuel prices

How about those Canadian prices for pesticides compared to our American neighbors

How about the durum theft that is happening at some GrainCos
          And the malt barley scams...

Damn those lazy subsidized farmers always looking for that welfare cheque in the mailbox!

Those facts and many more is probably why Richie's has 67 MORE summer auctions!
Given your facts, PLUS the weather, why would our boys farm? Been this way all my career.

Farming is a disease, a chronic ailment, once infected few recover. An addiction(hence my username). And like so many other diseases or addictions it is hereditary or learned by being raised in the environment. I don't know if they found a cure for it yet, at the very least total abstention is a must.

Who in their right mind would subject themselves to what a farmer does? Such a valuable "service" to fellow humankind all to get so readily beat up at every turn. It definitely takes a special kind of person to endure this kind of treatment. It's not always bad but allot of stars can line up against you, both natural and human. The rewards MUST out weigh punishment, why else would people continue to do it.

Good luck and take care to anyone out there who chooses to do this, it isn't for the faint of heart.

I will feel the full brunt of the risk I took, as most of you know I am not in Crop Insurance, AgStab-me-in-the-back is absolutely gutted, token AgInvest money will "help" but could fall well short of shoring up any losses, allot of producers don't even have an AgInvest balance to rely on...been used to cashflow the operation. The self-insure cushion could quite a bit thinner after this crop. Many operations don't have millions in equity to draw on...Operation's balance sheets may not look so good, for all sorts of reasons and the duration of the causes...

Farming is a tough gig....but it's still on the early side, not wrote off yet!

Tweety is a small minded troll on this site I bet he wouldn't have the balls to speak face to face with a real farmer and say this crap. He probably still lives in his parents basement and has no idea of the real world.

We drove from Regina to Big River and back yesterday. We stopped numerous places along the way in search of the elusive "Morel Mushroom". The bush floor crackled under our feet at every stop. There were no sopping wet leaves where we went. Combines were picking up Canola 2016 swathes east of Big River. I didn't see any grain carts in the fields. There were a few seeding outfits spewing dust and few fields left to seed, but that was at 110 kliks and off the highway. We met some young Kindersley farmers on their way to Missinipi to fly out of. Good luck to all my Agriville friends this week. Remember there are trolls on every site and they get their jollies from being a pain in the sracca.
