Agriculture is very stressful. We don't need the aggravation of trolls too. People play their chips just as they like and are free to say and vent as they like. We farmers understand each other and enjoy each other on this site. Because farmers are straight shooters(for the most part), I turn to them for advice rather than the barber or the guy at the bar.

In the Leader Post A shoe business owner says , "There's no business like the shoe business", but not everyone can sell shoes, but you sure can Tweety.

So a farmer that loves what he does and makes money at it is a troll? Can not be a farmer? Is a farmer then someone who bashes and name calls because they call you out?

What the hell is wrong with you? Are you so deep in your own pity party that you have lost touch with reality of how good things actually are in farming?

Sometimes its good to be reminded of why you did.

Stonepicker mentioned about accumulating capital value. When i was in grade 8 i told my math teacher that he had it pretty good getting a wage. He told me that a farmer does much better in the end building value and ends up with a much higher stack. Never forgot that.

Freedom 55 for this guy Twitty going to sell her to the highest bidder go to lake for the summer and yuma for the winter. Won't be paying carbon tax for 6 months in the us but will be cashing my early pension cheques that you are paying into. Then in the summer I can work for bto neighbor as custom work through my farm corp so I keep it going and still cash my pension cheques while you are still paying into cpp and not collecting. Going to live like a king travelling the world. Not too bad for a few years of struggle on the farm. If my health holds out I shouldn't have to wind down the corp and dip into that cash until 85 or 90 years old.

All this is academic anyway. The days of owner operator will be coming to an end with this generation. Local salesman and friend told me he just priced out a million dollar combine. Add this to seeder , tractor etc., you can see the writing on the wall.

Do you have to buy a $1,000,000 combine? Is that the only combine available to purchase?

You mean the same trend as the value of land?

You seem to be pouting about the perceived wealth of some farmers tweety .... 😥
Well that's what it is , perceived very few hit it right , and all that wealth can disappear after a few bad years . No perceived subsidized insurance program will help in some situations. Seen it more often than cashin er in at the right time . Odds are about as good as going to Vegas. Some of that wealth has taken 100 years to accumulate, think about that .

I disagree with you furrow. Anyone who has been farming for more than fifteen years has seen a huge increase in their rrsp ( land) What a good portion of these farmers have done is continually buy new equip. and for what reason? Ego? keeping up with the jones? Too lazy to maintain older equip.? Older equip. works extremely well. Why pay 600,000. for a drill when you can buy a four year old for 100,000.? A lot of farmers are mortgaging long term financial stability for short term new iron, i don't have sympathy for those types. I have far more respect for guys like klause who work hard and work with what they have. What does hurt the next generation in farming, is that every generation has to pay for the farm, again. ( there are exceptions ) it takes a long time to pay off land.

Yes there are a few like that , for sure . But it's not the norm and should not be perceived that way .
More of us are like Klause , a lot more than you think .

You may be right i may be wrong. The people who are willing to work at it, great! The ones who come to the coffee shop and say, i bought this i bought that, i don't have much use for. Too full of themselves for my liking.

There is no right or wrong , it is true .
End of the day it all sorts itself out. Some will make it , some won't . But not everyone is in that boat . Some will end up with great wealth , some just a mountain of debt that will eventually crush them . It is what it is. But what they may perceive to have may just well be an illusion, one should not presume everything is all great. If it was , guys like tweety would be running out to buy land and inputs and machinery to give it a go and become fabulously wealthy overnight ......... lol
