Happy 150th Birthday Canada - I am proud of ..... fill in your thoughts.

I just got back from a trip to Europe and while it was a great vacation...I feel very proud to live in Canada.
I hope everyone takes a minute to appreciate what we have, flaws and all.

I am proud of our safe, inclusive, tolerant, hockey playing culture.
    Happy Birthday Canada.

I am proud to be from saskatchewan I am not proud to be canadian because of all the tolerant politically correct socialist views in canada it's ridiculous. I would stand up with pride if we were living in the country of western canada. But until that happens I'll just have to suck it up.

I am proud of my ancestors and all they must have done and put up with to get our Province and country to where it was when I got old enough to contribute. Im not sure the next generation will be able to look back and feel the same way.

Sofa - if you travel across this great country from coast to coast, meet the local people and realize they are not that different, yet in someways have their own regional cultures, you might mellow a bit. It will put a smile on your face! Stop being so parochial. I echo Farmgal's sentiments and consider myself damn lucky to have been born here. No other place I would rather live, weather and all. Oh Canada!

Best place and time, safer than most, quieter, cleaner, citizens from every corner of earth, living and tolerating others. Agree proud Canadian, however politicians have a ways to go to be respected, IMHO.
Only detraction is 6 months of winter, but Global Warming will make us THE place to be saved from killer heat, + 2C !

I am cynical but it really saddens me that this once great country that so many have fought and died for can have its freedoms and principles erased by a few politicians who have a personal agenda of their own and don't care about the good of the real people across this country. It's not just the liberals it's all politicians.

I am so greatful to live in this country. Beautiful geography and generally the people. Do we have challenges of course we do. But name a place that doesn't?

I really dislike the east west mentality. Much of it centres on the west feeling monetarily taken advantage of and for granted. While the east generally wants a more good for all mentality and enjoys our money.
I shake my head at the transfer payments etc. But we ve had govs from here and yet haven't changed it????

Yet at the same time the idea of becoming the next state of the USA is garbage. They are great neighbors but they are more fkd up than we ll ever be.

What other country in the world is as respected as us?

It does worry me the extent of freedoms being given so loosely. There are reasons we are great let's not take those reasons for granted. We all need to stand up for the good that has been created here!!!

Canada by far is the greatest country in the world to live in! I and my family are so lucky to live in Canada

Have to agree with you Wheels this east west BS gets very tiring, we're all Canadians. Veterans fought in the wars for the entire country not the east and west seperate

Generally a pretty darn good place to live. Peaceful, stable, opportunity, bountiful, diverse landscape from coast to coast to coast, get to enjoy seasons(some are better than others), lifestyle. Let's hope it remains the same. There is a reason most of the people looking to relocate consider Canada.... for what we have, and who wouldn't want it.

Thankful for and proud of allot, although some days you'd never know it! I just hope my children and my grand children can continue to enjoy it or even better.

Take care and travel safe this Canada Day weekend.

                  HAPPY CANADA DAY

I am most grateful to have been born and raised in a country where pretty well everyone has a chance, regardless of their circumstances, and where by far the majority of people have been treated with respect and justice. Not everyone, I realize, but Canada has historically been held in high regard by most of the free world, if not all of it.

                      Of this I am proud.

But as others have stated, I am less optimistic about our status when thinking of the future generations.

Our underlying Christian heritage has been severely eroded and replaced with feel-good and popular-at-the-moment and politically correct policies. Those who are responsible do not have the insight to see the irrevocable link between the influence of true Christian faith and social, spiritual and economic stability.

And then we have our sock-boy head of state give an ass-whoopin' to the people who helped make this country what it is -you're not grateful enough:

                      O, CANADA!

I wish everyone reading here a Happy Canada Day celebration!

What have most of us REALLY done to ensure Canada stays strong and free. Our ancestors had to face the reality of combat and potentially losing their life or that of a loved one. For those who have lost family in the fight against terrorism this is still very real. For most,it is not something that has affected them. We elect people because the others running aren't going to give us what we think we need not on what is best for the long term. Many have lost sight that lossing their camper or F350 is not the worst thing that can happen. We all need to stop bitching and complaining about things that make life uncomfortable but not unbearable and elect people that have what it takes to do the right thing for keeping Canada strong and free.
